This past season Isaac had a PER of 16.6. His ORTG was 113 and his DRTG was 103.
The only thing that Isaac "sucks" at was his shooting the three-pointer. The rest of his game was very good all season.
His major problem is that he can only play 15 mpg. But that is what it is. And it means he will only be a bench player for the rest of his career.
Is that worth 14.5M? Well, other bench players make that. That's MLE money these days, after all.

Isaac is finally tradeable.
His minutes were limited but he stayed injury free for a good spell. His salary at 15m is something approaching acceptable. More importantly, a team can take a swing on him as a defensive game changer and - if it doesnt look like working out - can stop playing him and get out of his deal for only $8m.
Kind of a win win for a team who may need cap space and/or wants to punt on a JI revival.
Clearly, the team that takes that approach could also be the Magic. But we need trade assets if we're going to land some offensive help and JI is now at least a little positive as an asset.

He isn’t good enough when we even need more than 15 minutes he can’t give it to us.
He currently takes up to much salary for his role.
I have been a big supporter but we need players who can contribute more on more minutes and his salary prohibits that.
I don’t think it’s our biggest problem but I’m fine we address it this offseason.

I think Goga is higher on the chopping block. I can almost guarantee he won't be back.

I agree...clearly, Mose has no confidence in him...hopefully, he's got some value around the league and can bring back something nice for ORL...we have too much money tied up in reserve Centers anyway. The dumbest thing to do would be to hold on to him, pay him $9m to rot on the bench.

I'm not sure you always get 100% effort and focus with him. When he's locked in, he's worth the money. He'll probably play better somewhere where he gets a defined role.
Bucks fans were okay with Goga, Jett, and 2 second round picks for Portis.

I'd do that in a second...I'd even make it Goga & Isaac (& srps) to get off the guaranteed salaries of guys Portis will replace in the rotation. MIL would have to add an expiring like Connaughton

He can still be a rotation player here. Lose the weight and go back to what we saw in 23-24 season.

I was surprised by how out of shape he was coming into the season. He even admitted as late as a couple of months ago that he wasn't in shape until late in the season. He looked slower, his shooting was terrible, quite frankly he had trouble holding on to the ball.
I won't be upset if he's back next season, but I would hope he would be going into the offseason with a chip on his shoulder wanting to refocus. If he comes in next season and hasn't improved i'll agree with wanting him gone. Right now i'm on the fence, mostly because it would suck to cut bait now, unless some team wants him as part of a package for a star guard.

Guy was ALWAYS one of most overrated players we had in past 15 years.
HIs offense ALWAYS sucked. When he was starter back in 2019, vs Raptors, guy shot 27% FG on 6,6 ppg.
His whole gimmick is to play playoff defense in regular season. He never had good playoff series because in playoffs other teams match his regular season effort, with playoff effort, and he has nothing else to offer but playing hard.
Last year vs Cavs there was also " hard matchup "excuse, but guy literally played worst when Allen got hurt. What was hard matchup? Morris twin and Tristan Thompson?

He is feel good story that ran it's cause.
PF who can't shoot , catch ball, put ball on floor and pass? That simply isn't what modern PF is.
C who can't set proper screen or box out nor rebound well, isn't C in modern basketball.
He is 27, going 37. All years that he spent in rehab took away only thing he ever had in basketball, mobility.
Should have been part of our roster history back in 2020. Now it's just 5 years too late. His 5 years contract is slap in nuts for every fan out there.
I don't think reasons why he stays are that much basketball related. I won't go further in that, but nobody gives 5 years exstension to bench big, this isn't 1995.

Good luck with that
Ive been saying that for the past 6 years and since then hes gotten 2 extension and was the highest paid player on the team this year
For whatever reason (basketball related or not), the FO and ownership love this guy and will never let him go

Shout out his agent though for getting this dude $25 million this year. Could’ve literally split his salary in half to obtain two solid role players instead of giving Jonathan Bender 2.0 a new contract.

Crazy thing is, I like the heck out of JI, but obviously the makeup of the team needs changing and JI may have to go in order for us to get that difference maker we need in the backcourt. It’s gonna be a weird offseason because we need to change almost our entire backcourt and the only big worth keeping is Mo Wagner. If JI could give us 28 minutes of that day and a good enough jumper to keep opposing D’s honest I say keep him, but he wasn’t good this year.

Im giving Isaac another chance. Hes the one who everyone seems against, but Im not. Him, Moritz, Suggs and obviously Franz and Paolo are my keepers.

Isaac sucks only relative to his contract and production.
Guy averaged 13.8mpg in the playoff series with Boston.
He averaged 15.4 mpg for the season as a backup PF behind Paolo.
It's just entirely too much money on a guy off the bench even if his contract descends to $15m from $25m.
You just can't justify it at all considering the other areas this roster needs help. He makes more than Naz Reid, who is basically a starter off the bench.
My theory is that ownership are in love with everything Isaac represents outside of basketball. I can't prove that directly, but his production in the last 5+ seasons just doesn't match the kind of money he has earned here with Orlando. He's been given a million opportunities and multiple contracts. He just is NOT worth that level of commitment considering the rest of the roster where it stands.
They could draft a guy in the second round to provide more impact at 1/20th the price. I dont really care how likable he is. He has outstayed his relevance.

Aside from his salary, Isaac isn’t the reason our outside shooting is terrible. Franz’s shooting motion was horrid in the playoffs.
