Poll: which players should be traded this off-season

PBO Weltman was very clear that the team can only progress via trades, given financial issues. And that the team must "get better".
We can thus assume consolidation moves are certain this off-season.
As all 15 Magicicans are either under contract or have a team option. This means all 15 are eligible in trade deals.
Who should Orlando trade? (ignoring what the returns might be)
As the poll only allows 10 options, I had to cluster a couple players.
There are unlimited votes (i.e. one could vote for all 10 if one wanted)

The good news: The team can possibly progress via trades
The bad news: They never make any trades

Flawed…once again.
Trade guys that suck…expect guys that don’t suck back. Only Franz & Paolo off the table for blockbuster return down

Maybe you do trade KCP for a player like Simons or Cam Johnson. We could offer Gary Harris a smaller $3.5m deal to stay. I always thought Harris and KCP were redundant.

Draft picks and young players can be included as sweeteners in trades

Unattractive Assets
Isaac, Cole
Lateral Assets
Carter, KCP
Positive Assets

Those are the assets to be moved this offseason.

Some teams aren’t looking for that…we have targets, so do they.

I don't think Cole and Isaac are unattractive. They both have only have one more season fully guaranteed.

keep in mind some or many of our players may be seen as negative value ...so it would require to add picks just to get rid of them while we are delusional and we want good players in return....for our poope
at the same time Luka got traded for poope so one can dream

They are negative relative to what they have shown on an nba floor in the last 1-2 seasons given their price point.
Teams can easily find better, lower costing, options at either position if you aren’t looking at them as potentially expiring money at face value.

Cole is expiring (team option on the second year) and JI's contract is heavily protected, declining, and inexpensive for a quality role player (he's paid 7th man money and it drops quickly from there).

Isaac plays 15mpg. He’s not worth $15m. No amount of mental gymnastics can convince me otherwise. In no world should he be making the same as Naz Reid who plays 28mpg.
Zubac is a starter making $18m/3. Isaac is an overpay and it isn’t an argument. Guy will miss 20 games next year or play under 8mpg like clockwork.
Cole makes $13m and could barely see the floor in a playoff game because he was hunted on defense. Not a good contract unless you view everything as expiring dead money 2 years from now on a club option.

Jonathan Isaac at essentially a MLE contract moving forward is not an unattractive asset in my opinion.
Only 9% of the cap next year and declining over the rest of the deal.
Thats what a 15-18 MPG player that is clearly still impactful defensively (and theoretically will be more impactful on both next season after losing the weight) would expect to make IMO.

Exactly this.
25-26: 9.70%
26-27: 8.52%
27-28: 7.75%
28-29: 7.29%
That's the 7th/8th highest paid player on most teams.

Isaac isn’t the 7/8th most important player on this roster if it were built correctly. Paolo shouldn’t be coming off the court long enough for that to make sense.

Our situation is different from other teams. Some teams will want a low cost, defensively elite combo big like JI.

Let's put it this way... you get Isaac back to 230 lbs and back playing mostly PF (with some ability to scale up to the 5 or down to the 3 for very limited stretches) and he makes the kind of per minute impact he made in the 23-24 season, he's absolutely worth the remaining money on his contract and then some.
I actually kind of don't want to trade him for that reason because I could see him being impactful like he was in 23-24 again, but somebody has to be sent out to make deals work.

I’m done on waiting for JI’s next season. I’m ready to get off this train.

I would take Isaac's 23-24 season every year for the rest of his contract in a heartbeat.
1st in the NBA (by a wide margin) in Defensive EPM
1st in the NBA (by a wide margin) in ESPN Defensive Net Points
+10.9 overall NET
I don't care that he only played 16 MPG.
Give me 16 MPG of THAT and he's worth so much more than the rest of his contract.
