Would you trade Franz for Giannis?

Post#1 » by Airgordon00 » Mon May 12, 2025 6:26 pm

With the rumors swirling of Giannis possibly moving on from the bucks and looking for a state with no income tax. Would you trade Franz for Giannis?

I love Franz but Giannis is on another level and he could bring us instantly into the top 6 teams or so every year that actually have a chance to win it all. Plus the bucks might consider our package more because they don’t own their own picks for years so with a trade like my example below. They could still be competitive and build around someone who I believe would blend well with the culture of Milwaukee.

Example:
Magic send Franz, Moe, Jett, 16th pick, 25th pick, suns 2026 1st rd pick swap, magic 2027 1st top 4 protected.

Bucks send Giannis.

We would still have enough assets to move and get better quality role players. Plus you can get some Vet minimum guys who are ring chasing.

Thoughts?

You would have two PFs. So no. Franz fits much better next to Paolo than Giannis.

In a vacuum, yes, but for what it would realistically cost, no. And I just think the fit would be weird but I would just legit make him play center lol.

I think Franz's value is in the All-NBA superstar range and he's not even in his prime. Same value as Giannis. So no.

We are not in the phase of our team where we are about to break up two 22/23 yo future perennial star wings. Obv I would trade anyone on this team non named Paolo for Giannis. However, we are not in that timeline compared to other teams with higher expectations.

Now 4-5 years down the line with this duo and we fail to replicate the success of Tatum/Brown then its time to have that difficult conversation. By the time Franz is on the last year of this contract, we should have good idea of what this duo can accomplish.

If we trade anyone first it will be Suggs. What we do this offseason will be a big determinant of our next move.

No! The moment you trade for these large contracts you handicap your team and can’t make any other moves to get better. You then have to trade Suggs and Banchero for cap relief and then get to hear an upset Giannis wanting out.

No, we need to add Giannis as a center. We need to give all of our picks and JI,KCP,TDS.

No.

Suggs, yes.

Gianni as a small ball center works with Paolo and Franz.
In instances where we have to play an actual center, Gianni and Paolo covering the forward spots and Franz at SG works if we defensively play more zone.

News flash, Giannis is a pseudo-Center these days. That's all I see when I watch him play. 100%.

I thought about it a lot, and this only works out beautifully if it's a lineup like;

Mystery PG
KCP or Mystery SG
Franz
Paolo
Giannis

As in, call MIL and offer Jalen Suggs the heart of our team with six 1st round picks and salary filler of MIL's choosing (WCJ and TDS would be a HAUL).

Edit: Obviously I don’t want to trade Suggs so easily. I’m down for a godfather offer without our Big 3.

Without hesitation lol put him at Center & I’ll even throw them WCJ. With that being said, Milwaukee will definitely get better offers.

It's not that I would be opposed to it. Or that I am emotionally attached to P & F. But for the cost, it just seems premature. Neither Paolo or Franz is unhappy with each other and other then needing a PG I don't see any chemistry issues.

A player like Giannis doesn't come available every year. I am intrigued about the possibility. But what does it cost and will our Front Office go for it. Idk

I'd trade Paolo for him... both him and Paolo are PFs...

But hindsight/realistically a trade from Giannis makes no sense for this squad.

Why not? You don't think Giannis, in your case, Franz won't make us a contender? Along with all our young assets. This is a very good roster

Giannis makes $39m more than Paolo. So you'd need to include KCP, Cole, and Goga to make the contracts match. They'd also want picks.

This isn't pre 2020/2019 where you say "eff all fit I've got 2-3 Stars on my team". You have to have a fit of star players and role players that make sense and fit together.

Both Paolo and Giannis are big Forwards who are unable to play perimeter effectively or for an extensive amount of time.

On top of that both players can't shoot. You'd have to COMPLETELY restructure the team around those guys. It would likely take 2-3 years to do that. At least with Franz and Paolo it'll take only 1 or 2 offseasons tops to get this right with the current makeup of the roster.
