TDS JETT CALEB

This trade was an obvious bet on not just PB Franz Suggs but our 3 G/F's TDS, Jett and Caleb.
We need at least 1 to become a legit 15-20 minute rotation guy. Judging by our cap predicament in the next few years it would be great if 2 of them were part of the rotation.
To me it seems like the team has it ranked
TDS
Caleb
Jett
How do you guys have them ranked. Do you think we will resign Caleb? Seems like he beat out Jett last year. Could Jett get the nod this year? He has more playmaking ability that's for sure. Is TDS the clear favorite? He is mine.

TDS seems like he will be that player.

Bane attacks and shoots from the top of the key...so, theoretically, those delicious corner 3's will be available and each of those guys (if they're here) could be reborn. Wendell shoots those confidently too...but you probably don't want your Center to be the last guy back on D...could be an opportunity for guys to salvage (Jett), hang on (Caleb), or advance further (TdS).

I'd add Black into this group too.

This is a good read on the situation. Without any further moves there are two open rotation slots and three candidates in TDS, Caleb, and Jett.
I would say TDS has the edge because he's the most developed and well-rounded of the three. It's very close between Jett and Houstan. Houstan has the edge for me due to his demonstrated ability to get hot from three and strong work ethic. He's closer to filling a specialized role as a floor spacer.

It’s sink of swim time for that group.

It’s hard to trust any of these three guys honestly.
I think if they use their mid-level or if they trade for someone using Goga it will be for a wing because they don’t trust these guys.
I just don’t think you can put any one of these guys into the rotation next year when the goal is to win as much as you possibly can, which is where the Magic are now.

I figured from what we have seen from Black that he was getting his 24min+ no matter what and will be our biggest asset on the bench for years to come. I am high on Black.

Also important to factor in picks 25, 46, 57. Likely green goblin fodder EXCEPT for... Walter Clayton Jr.!

Well yeah. I am also projecting they sign a real PG. I think Dinwiddie will be their choice on a 1 year deal. Play him 12-15 minutes while AB gets the rest of the back up guard minutes. I think they will only have 1 slot open for these 3 and it will be TDS to lose. I just think the other 2 need to be ready for injuries and in the near future where we have to shed more salary and it would be nice if one of them could be the back up 2 guard on a team friendly deal.

How many rotational players do we currently have?
Wendell
JI
Paolo
Franz
Black
Bane
Suggs
That's 7 if we're healthy. We need to trade the rest of the players for rotational players.

That would surprise me. Everything we've seen suggests they view AB as a point guard.

Moe?
TDS will be serviceable. Goga is an ok fill in for WCJ and JI.
I do see us signing a vet into the rotation. Also, if things aren’t working out with TDS they can make a move at the trade deadline.
Our bench was ok before the injuries. I honestly don’t understand the panic.

I really think TDS can make a leap. He did well when we inserted him into the starting lineup without Franz and Paolo.

TDS showed flashes in his rookie year and is definitely going to continue to get some run. If he can progress he has a rotation spot waiting for him for sure, could turn into a valuable bench player for us.
Jett I think gets one more season based on what we're paying him. Can he refine the edges of his game enough to warrant him being involved even when his shot is off? I could see Jett being one of those guys who struggles for a few years and then suddenly turns into a reliable bench scorer. IMO he could be a spark plug offensively, but I just don't know if it'll be now or in a few years.
I think Caleb has had plenty of chances and hasn't ever materialized and pulled it together. I think he's on the outside looking in if they find someone else who they can give PT to.

Right now its TDS, Caleb, Jett but i would not be suprised if it ended Jett, TDS, Caleb.
Say what you want about Jett but he is long, he can shoot off movement and he showed some passing flashes. Next year there will be real opportunity for him. I think that we will get some backup PG but if not, him and Moe are the only dynamic offensive players we have outside s5.

I reject the central premise that the Magic very real need for a major-minutes wing will come from an existing player.
Orlando MUST sign a 14th player and can only sign a vet with 6 or less years of service to stay under the apron. But: I think there is such a player that fits this mold, and is better than da Silva, Houstan, and Howard.
My thoughts on the depth chart
Suggs/Black
Bane/vet-here/Howard
F-Wagner/or-vet-here/Houstan
Banchero/Isaac/da Silva
Carter/Bitadze/M-Wagner.
Clearly I prefer a combo wing that can log minutes at the 2 or 3 (i.e. Harris' replacement.
Ideas:
SG: Sam Merrill, Lindy Waters, Ajay Mitchell
SF: Jabari Walker, Kessler Edwards, MarJon Beauchamp, Jamal Cain
There is a vet to be had at the LLE that is better than da Silva, Houstan, and Howard.

Oh man...here we go...but they didn't ask him to do those things yet?

I like da Silva...I don't think he's fodder...unless there's a trade package. I don't think Caleb is unworthy of a deep spot either. Jett still might get the benefit of the doubt going into camp, based on draft position.
Reality is, you can't just dump guys. Caleb is the only one with a TO.
TdS would have some trade value to another team that's maybe overloaded at a different position.

We run a wing-hub offense... playmaking flows through Paolo and Franz. AB handles other point guard responsibilities, especially point-of-attack defense. Role ≠ Position.
