V pleasantly surprised.
Shocked Moe took so little, even given the injury.
Great to keep the band together.

We all might owe Mr. Welty an apology. This might be the steal of the summer.

TBD if this is the bi-annual exception or just another chunk of the full MLE.

Money is right, very surprised there is no player option. Not that it should matter if everything goes right but not sure how we managed that. Good job!

This is a “we’ll figure it out later” re-signing for 1 year.
Good we brought him back. The bench would have been terrible later in the season.

My guess is that the Magic were offering a two year deal and Moe preferred a one year deal so he could potentially cash in for more money next summer.

Pretty sure he offered a “I want to stay on the same team as my bro” discount.

Good for the player and good for the team. His injury throws a haze on his forecasted value, so this kicks that decision down the road in a good way that benefits all parties.
After years of us grumbling about Weltman not doing anything, this is truly the summer of him and Parker doing this:

I’m happy it’s done. Could be Moe’s last season.
5 million from his perspective has to feel bad.

This is a great deal even considering the market shift that has happened this summer.
Guys who are not proven on both sides of the ball are just not being valued significantly right now. Definitely in large part due to the new CBA, but I think there is definitely a shift in player evaluation happening right now. This is part of the reason Jase slipped to us in the draft, since there is belief that his size is going to severely limit his defensive potential. Maybe a slight overreaction to the OKC no weak link defender model being so darn good last year? But definitely somewhat justified IMO.
Regardless Moe was really good last year and there was never was a world where we didn't bring him back IMO. Injury also plays into his value, I'm sure. Very happy to have him back.

Great news! Welcome back Mo Swag! Although he is certainly worth $3M or $4 more, maybe more, but thankfully he can live with his little brother and save on rent and expenses. Time with family is priceless.

He's out for potentially half the season with the injury too so it makes sense why he signed for half his value. I don't think there was much of a market for him given that and his age/role.
If he balls out again. You can definitely see him get 10+ million a year offers the following off season. Im hoping he gets his money.

This is amazing. I am truly more low-key excited about the Magic than I have been since the VC trade in 2010.
Now all we gotta do is resign Caleb, and i give the offseason a MINIMUM 9/10 grade.

sweet, was worried for a sec.
hope we bring Caleb back, we need more players that command gravity and dont get beat up on defense. Obviously he is as one dimensions as they come, but being 6'8 and shooting 40% opens things up for everyone

People keep saying this but according to Moe himself his rehab timeline is to be ready for training camp. He'd have to have a super setback for him to miss half the season. ACLs are fairly routine.
