Tyus Jones: The newest elephant

Post#1 » by basketballRob » Thu Oct 23, 2025 2:58 am

How long does Mosley continue to give him big minutes? I think I may like him if he was playing less than 15 mpg off the bench.

He was very good tonight.

Way better than AB. AB should be worried about his minutes.

I think Anthony Black is the real elephant, there is no excuse to have him running the offense over a guy that led the league in turn over to assist, the last 5 out of the last 6 seasons.

He absolutely can not run an offense at all, and almost single handedly lost us this game. How can you be a point guard and but can't create. He was literally pounding the air out the ball tonight and couldn't do anything as the lead guard off the bench.

Jase is absolutely going to take his position pretty soon here, I have no doubt. AB's defense is not good enough to make up for his lack of playmaking and the 4 on 5 offense he creates.

AB was +13 and played solid defense. I think that matters a little more to Mosley.

I agree that AB is an elephant, but Tyus is atrocious.

Tyus is on a ‘cheap’ one year contract and is also training his replacement. We have bigger issues.

AB ran the offense tonight off the bench. Tyus did not play well, but AB literally shut our offense down. If I am moving forward, I let Tyus acclimate and let Jase try and turn into a lead guard. He has showed vision and the ability to break down an offense and is deadly for spacing. His upside is 10x higher imo then what AB is showing with the ball in his third year.

AB didn't run the offense tonight. Franz and Paolo were bringing the ball up. He was +13.

He is going to be this years Gary Harris. Mosley will play him more then he deserves and let Jase rot on the bench because of the "veteran leadership." Jase deserves minutes. Both him and Tyus will be targeted on defense but at least Jase is more of a shot creator and sniper from 3. I have seen nothing from Tyus in the preseason and today.

Harris played because he was a relentless defender. If you don't defend, then you don't play under Mosley.

I can’t really say anything, I wanted Andrew Nembhard. It seems like he is going to take time to gel with the others.

GH has not been a relentless defender since prob denver. He played more than he needed to here, partly bc we lacked wing talent and Mosley overtrusted him. He had spurts where was pesky defender but was always injured and his effort was inconsistent. Mosley gives the pass on defense for these vets. If that werent the case, then Tyus would not play another minute. He is a laughably bad defender.

Still too early, but I have always thought Mose could get frustrated with his defense, even if his offense does come along. We'll see.

Tyus will bounce back. Its just defensively you know this is what you were going to get from him. He's slated to be the backup PG. Him playing more than 15 minutes or 20 minutes on a good night was never really in the cards for him here.

What do you think is more likely, the guy who has LEAD THE NBA in assist to turn over ratio multiple years, to adjust and create with all these weapons.

Or for AB to learn how to run a pick and roll, and pass the ball as a point guard, and create at double the rate per min (what he would need to be close to as efficient)

I am not saying AB has no potential, but he is no point guard and im not sure why we keep playing him like one.

Because he's a point guard
