What a terribly wasted draft

Yeah I mean, no offense to Jett but it's basically over now. No need to play him anymore at this point.

Get Jase on the floor and slide Black into a SG/SF/wing who can secondary create kind of role.

Never understood this draft, it was obviously so bad! And people here really claimed it was enius to pick him and let him play in G-League :D
Though i have to say my picks Gradey Dick or Jordan Hakins are not doing so well either.

I'm done losing sleep over that draft. We had a chance at what looked like a very strong top 4 and missed. And even that top 4 doesn't look incredible anymore outside of Wemby. It was a crapshoot after that, nobody taken would have changed a whole lot. The Jett pick was still incredibly dumb and we would be in a better spot with Lively, George, Podz etc. But I can't lose sleep over those players.

Some people wanted to trade the picks, the guys traded the deadline before and the offseason for firsts were like Smart, Durant, Kyrie, Lillard, Jrue, Poeltl, BEAL lol. Most of those trades worked out horribly. Kyrie worked for a bit, Jrue was good. I don't think this team makes one of those moves to add to rookie Paolo. Half of those guys look done or very close to it.

It was a crap draft all around outside of Wemby, it happens. Pretty unlucky honestly. Year before - 2022 after pick 6 has Mathurin, Sharpe, Dyson, Jdub, Mark Williams, Duren, Eason, Braun, Kessler, Nembhard. 2021 Has Giddey, Franz, Sengun, Murphy, Jalen Johnson, Grimes, Aldama, Herb Jones, Aaron Wiggins, Cam Thomas. Like even Moody, Kispert, Kuminga and Davion I wouldn't say are above average but are better than the 2023 guys.

2023 literally has Lively (oft injured) Podz and Cason who I would say have been above average after pick 6. Putrid. Keyonte a decent start this year, but it's 3 games. Edit* Also still think Coulibaly has a chance. I mean he's in a similar spot as AB right now though.

It was definitely a mistake to pick Jett there.

At the time, I did not feel there was enough room for two Lottery Picks on the roster.

Some of the players I have liked did not pan out either but Dereck Lively and I guess Keyonte George have but if The Magic had to do it all over again, I feel they should have traded the pick for future picks unless they wanted Lively.

One thing though is with this team up against tax, it would have been tough to squeeze in Lively's upcoming extension.

Still, I would have traded the pick.

Right move

But we could still resign him on the cheap, he is not worth 7.3M at the present time but i would gladly resign him for the min next summer

This takes our team salary for 2026-2026 at 212 M (includes 11 players) which is roughly 850 000$ under the 1st Apron and 13 M under the 2nd Apron

the 11 players are:
Franz Wagner
Jalen Suggs
Bane
Paolo Banchero
Jonathan Isaac
Wendell Carter Jr.
Goga Bitadze
Anthony Black
Tristan Da Silva
Penda
Jase

If we give 30+ DNP to JI, that takes us

which is roughly 7.3 M under the 1st Apron and 20 M under the 2nd Apron

This doesnt smell good for JI

Suggs,Jase
Bane,Black
Franz,TDS
P5,Penda
WCJ, Goga

The only surprising thing is they announced today instead of after this back-to-back. It’s so bad with Jett, that two great game performances today and tomorrow wouldn’t change anything.

2023 - Ultimate BUST draft.

Will end up setting back this franchise further than what people want to admit.

Time to cut the dead weight. Hopefully Isaac is next, although we all know he's on a lifetime contract regardless of whether he plays or not.

Nobody had him going top 20.
Made no sense in moment pick was made.
Made no sense after rookie year spent in G league with Weltman apologists pretending G league is some sort of "develomental" league
Made no sense after year two where he continued to suck.

I still can't find single reason why they didn't trade out that pick.

Didn’t need to trade back.

Most of us wanted either Hawkins, Dick, Whitmore, or Lively.

Lively the most obvious need. A rim-running center that we still don’t have.

He will be playing for his NBA career.

Why? His agent should be learning Mandarin.

I wonder if they reached out to shop him - some team might have preferred to get him in house before he's on the UFA track. I'm not expecting some significant return, if any, but even as a gesture to him and his agent. He's intriguing enough for a bad team like BRK to take a risk-free whiff.
