Dont know if many of you know this... but I saw this on a broadcast recently.
THE MAGIC ARE SOMETHING LIKE 0-7 WHEN DWIGHT HOWARD SHOOTS LESS THAN 40% AT THE LINE.
Thats all I could think about against NJ midway through the 3rd, and look what happened.

I think it's less than 50%......still it makes sense.

He shot 30% against NJ. And Magic lost the game by 1 point. Pretty sad.

On the other hand, we'd be the worst team in the league without him.
I agree though. He must improve his free throw shooting. Even if it only 70%. He is capable.

Thats Dwight's biggest need. He should spend all of the next off season becoming a good free throw shooter. If he just got it to 70% that would be huge.

Really depressing. Overall, D-12 didn't played a solid game offensively going 5-11 from the field and going 3-10 from the line. Some of these games are determine by the FT shooting. The last game was no expection. D-12 has to get better from the FT line.

Personally I think it's because he spends so much time in the weight room. Dwight is constantly trying to get bigger and stronger, and at this point I think he needs to stop. Get a regiment that maintains his strength and size, but not to increase strength.
FTs are form, consistency, and feel. Dwight's strength effects two of these. He can't get a consistent feel going, because as his strength increases, he has to adjust how much strength he uses to flick the ball towards the rim.
I think Dwight's form is fine for the most part, it could use a few adjustments, but overall that's not the problem. The problem is half the time he gets up there, and he's so worked up that he throws it a little strong and it clinks off the back of the rim, if he flicked it softer it might bounce inwards instead.
Dwight needs to get up to 66-70% quickly, and then try and get up in the 75% range.
