Cook gets extra work

The Magic held a season-ticket-holder event at Amway Arena on Sunday, but it started 15 minutes later than expected because practice ran longer than originally scheduled. Even when most of the players had left the court, Van Gundy remained behind with little-used Brian Cook to work on his post defense

Brian Cook needs to lay off the tacos man, and get his ass on an athletic training program, because his slack ass talent is nowhere near enough to be usefull, I'd rather play Garrity.

Why do you guys assume he isn't working hard to get in shape? Do you think when the head coach says a guy needs to get in shape the trainers yawn and ignore him? Brian looks slimmer to me, and it takes a lot of work for a long time to take it off. How are you doing?

I had to put up with him for 4 years on the Lakers, I was both happy and sad when he got traded to the Magic. His problems have always been the same: no defense, no post-game, no fire under his belly. He's as one dimensional as they come.

I still got hopes for him. He looked slimmer when I saw him warming up.

well we didn't get a hard nose guy...we just ended up with a marshmellow that can shoot the ball well and has quick release...we didn't accomplish our goal really...but it is what it is...i don't see him getting any tougher and developing that rebounding ability at this stage...i'd love to be proven wrong...but i just dont see it...

hopefully next season we improve via FA or some deals, and Tony will be back so that will help solidify the line...

IMO

Dwight/Battie/Foyle is a very versatile 5 spot, 3 totally different guys...

now all you need is one solid 4 and it's game over i think in that dept...

I would agree, Thief. It would be nice to get a really young athletic body who can hit that little 12-17 foot jumper for that other piece.

Cook, though, I was standing in line waiting to get Rashard's autograph and looking at the backs of Cook and Dwight. . . . It's too bad if Cook doesn't help the Magic at all. He doesn't look small next to Dwight height-wise. And he's got broad shoulders. He's just not the same physical specimen that Dwight is (but then there aren't many people built like Dwight). I know his game is nothing like that, but with his size, Cook should be able to contribute in some way.

Exactly, he may need half a year (not season, year) to be in the right shape and play defense against the best PFs in the L.

How are you doing?

LOL I could PWN anybody except Thief at this, never been overweight since I cut over 60lbs ten years ago
