so.... you say yourself that he averages crap minutes.... and basically only plays in spurts.... but then he plays well in spurts??
if any other player had a decent night like JJ had, they'd be rewarded the next night. not JJ.
i guess he only deserved 5 minutes tonight...

In my mind, his weaknesses are still greater then his strengths. The only time he should get some playing time is if we are down big in games. He's got a nice shot with a quick release, and he does have that ability to sidestep to get his shot off. But the problem still remains on defense. He is absolutely horrible at sg at this level. I'm thinking lately, why not try him out at pg? It can't be any worse then guarding the taller quicker two guards around the league. He does pass well, and has some decent ability to find the open man. It would be interesting to see if he could carve out a niche there. The reality is that he will get traded by the deadline though, if the interest is indeed that big for him. The two guys with the most trade appeal go, and the other two come off our bench. It seems like the best path to me.

I wouldn't say no one passes to him, but they are few and far between. And if Dooling is on the floor, well, he passes to no one.
True story.
Redick looked like a rookie last night. The good news was he only let up one basket. Of course that was probably because the Clippers were not looking for Mobley who btw I still wish played for Orlando.
However what do people expect him to look like? Sometimes he'll look good, sometimes bad. He needs TIME to learn. Ron Jeremey won't play him again for 3 weeks. Watch the dnps pile up. Everytime he does something wrong he pays for it. But Bogans can jack up 11 3's and make 1 as many times as he wants and he'll always play.

I'd like for us to build a solid defensive team that involves having Redick in the rotation, I just don't see how it will work.
yeah, i'd much rather see a body in his place that'll get PT and contribute. i've just got my doubts on whether Otis can turn JJ plus a package of other players into anything decent.

It's true that he looked bad Wednesday, and I agree that he needs some time to get comfortable. But do you want to lose games to make that happen? They couldn't afford to keep him on the floor much longer Wednesday. He made two or three mistakes in that five-minute period, and the Magic lead shrunk by about four or six points. He had a turnover to spoil a possession, then fouled to send an opponent to the free-throw line and then couldn't find a shot.
