I was just looking at their team and payroll. Isaiah is a joke. As much as some of us want to complain about Otis, at least we don't have that clown running the joint.

What would you guys do to fix that team?

I was looking at it, and you can't even blow that team up. The contracts are ridiculous and don't end for another 2 seasons, and even then most of the players have player options on that.

There isn't much talent on the roster and what's there doesn't fit at all.

i really need some time to mull this over before i make my proposal. but here's a few things i'm thinking about:

1) Marbs contract might hopefully have some value come next season when it's expiring. 20mil off someone's cap in one go is a big treat. NY could really do with that cap space themselves, but if you can actually get some REAL value back - as in a draft pick and or a young up and comer, then i'd do it.

2) Lee and Balkman would be a big part of the future picture. probably restrict them to bench positions, unless...

3) If there was a way to finally get Curry producing then it might be worth hanging on to him, unless someone wanted to give up something decent for him. Personally, i don't see him ever becoming anything more than he currently is. a disappointment.

4) Just because Randolph's contract is so huge, and nobody would've traded for him in the first place but NY, the team would probably have to be built around him in the short term until rookies start to produce.


People say that you can't rebuild in NY, but i don't see how you can't. They've been losing for years. a rebuilding team could easily put up a similar record and....*gasp*..... would have a future!!??

Trade everyone except David Lee for expiring contracts and draft picks. Wait until 2010 and sign LeBron. The simplest way to fix their problems. The whole team is worthless. There are still a couple teams that would like their players if only for quick fixes.

i would sign garrity to a 6yr $150 contract..but other then that i wouldnt fix them, its fun to watch them struggle.

Okay first and foremost get rid of isiah. No one on the team likes or respects the guy. Secondly i say build the team around Zach and Curry. Get rid of richardson, robinson, marbury. esp Marbury the guy is cancer. Get a good pass first point guard and some shooters.

I would trade any and everyone for expirings and picks. I would then wait out their bad contracts by signing no one in free agency, while building through the draft. Once the bad contracts run out i would become a player in free agency and build on the hopefully solid core I build through the draft while rebuilding.

And obviously I would fire Isiaah ASAP.

I had a very elaborate and detailed plan for them that I put up on the Knicks board a few weeks ago...they all seemed to be for it. Was basically a bunch of trades for expirings, including one that landed us Jamal Crawford.

Fire Zeke - Hire Jeff Van Gundy...
Trade or buyout Marbs for anything with a glimmer of value...
Trade Zach - get defensive guard and or picks...
Trade a few other assets for a shooting SF...
Eddy Curry runs the paint - surround him with shooters and defenders (hmm)...
Lee off the Bench, not in the starting 5...
Wait for draft time...

i concur 100% with this assesment. only thing i would do different is trade marbs for young talent not expirings

David Lee is the only one with a contract that gives them value on the court there IMO. So, basically...get rid of Isiah. Trade the whole team for contracts and draft picks and start again. Build via the draft and build a Blazers East.

keep lee, randolph, and crawford possibly nate robinson. have a fire sale with the rest of the team. oh yea fire Isaiah and get dolan out of there.

keep Lee, balkman, robinson, get rid of everyone else

I have enough troubles trying to figure out how the Magic can solve their problems. I don't have time to worry about the Knicks, too.

They should have fired Isiah long before he became coach. He's been that bad of a gm. They need to hire someone young with some enthuasim to run that team, and a big name coach. They need to do it slowly and get these huge contracts off their books. I dunno man. It's gonna take 2 years at least to clean up Isiah's mess. Mabye 3 or 4.

The 3 years and change contracts get turned into 2 and change and shorter. I think I call Cleveland and ask how Curry, Crawford, and Jeffries for Z, Hughes, and Marshall sounds.

Then I call Chicago and tell them that Zach is available. I want Noah and I'll take whatever else they want to throw in except Hinrich or Nocioni.

If I can get a good player in free agency for the MLE between now and 2010 I do it, but only if it makes sense in the long term. Front load contracts if at all possible.

When I can sign David Lee to an extension, I front load it so he gets the most money before I drop below the cap. Then in 2010 I use my cap room and the draw of playing in New York to get a star.

Sure, you'd love to to turn crap (bad contracts for mediocre players) into young players and picks, but no team is going to let you do that...

7.The rest are actually managebale contracts, bad fits maybe, but easily moved.
