The curse of the Magic C/PG

Post#1 » by CourtsideTV » Sun Jan 13, 2008 3:16 am

Whens the last time we had both a good pg and C?

shaq and penny

ever since..we had either a.) a good pg and no C or b.) a good C and a mediocre pg.

Armstrong was pretty good when eh was with us..then we got stuck with the likes of reece gaines, jeryll sasser, shammond williams, tyron lue..

now we have dwight and are stuck with nelson, arroyo, dooling..

when was the last time any other team had a good C and PG at the same time? and then what was the last time before that? especially if you're talking Shaq + Penny calibre.

i think we're lucky enough to have Dwight. it'd be nice to have Chris Paul next to him, but, you know, it just won't happen.

It didn't last long, but the Seikaly/Armstrong combo was pretty nice.

Agreed, Rony will always stay underrated here.

That's because you expect your centers to play at least a little defense. And he didn't. He was a good offensive player, though.

Seikaly was one of the ten best Centers of his generation.

Dwight Howard on his FT struggles:

Rony Seikaly was probably the coolest player we ever had, that dude should have been in film. He's probably my all time favorite Magic man. Seik was always underrated, and part of that was because he was Shaq's replacement. He averaged 17 and 10 with the Magic.

Seikaly was a good center during his time with the Magic. I hated the day the Magic traded him to New Jersey for junk pieces. That was the one of more dumba** moves by the Magic that showed how stupid the ppl behind the scenes were reallly are runningthe franchise into the ground.

This was the beginning of building cap space for what was player Hill and T-Mac.

Well, I think you have your answer if we are talking about Seikaly with such fond terms. He was ok, but I also remember his nickname at the time..... the Greek Tragedy. He wasn't that great. We've had only three very good centers in the history of this franchise, Catledge, Shaq, and now Dwight. The rest were problematic.

Rony Seikaly should be listed there, I beleive Cat was a power forward wasn't he? Seikaly averged 17 and 10 here, those are some damned good numbers considering we WERE going to go with Felton Spencer. Seikaly played really well here, he wasn't problematic, the Magic's love for Ike Austin is what was problematic.

Thats true, my bad. I thought they moved him there because of Greg Kite, but your right, he was a pf. So there were only two then. Sure we had worse at the position, but usually great players don't get disparaging nicknames.
