It seems like a fall from grace, but the landing should be gentle.

There's no question Orlando Magic star Dwight Howard had strayed from the evangelical Christian values he espoused throughout his career when he confirmed nine days ago that he has a child out of wedlock.

But national marketing analysts and Christian leaders argue Howard can easily keep his wholesome image relatively in tact

Pretty cool story. I have been wondering if that whole ordeal would tarnish his image.

This really isn't anyones business at all.

Leave it alone, unless he's a deadbeat dad, to which I think would be impossible.

As long as his off-court life doesn't effect his performance on the court, it's his business.

He's a great character guy, I would hate for people to overlook that.

If anyone thinks any less of him for this then they're an idiot. He was like 19-20ish when this happened. He's just a kid.

I think less of him. He fell right into that girl's trap. He did exactly what she wanted. He has a multi-million dollar salary, and he just gave a fair chunk of it to someone for the next 18 years. She won the lottery.

Anyone who doesnt think that the girl wanted this to happen is nieve. She just got herself financially set for the next 18 years. She wont have to work or do anything and she will be taken care of.

BTW. I could care less about any of his christian crap. Im an agnostic, bordering on atheist.

I'm a Christian, and I don't care about this at all. It's Dwight's business, and he's still a good guy, so who cares?

^^Well aren't you a negative guy.
Chill.

Haven't heard a peep from any media source outside of the O-Sen and Florida Today.

^thats b/c none of the other media sources care. there are a lot more entertaining things going on in sports then trying to dig up a story to criticize howard for having a kid out of wedlock.

Same here MagicFan3. I agree whole heartedly, it's really none of the public's business. I'm not going to say this chick hasn't hit the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. She's done it. I seriously hope that for the sake of the kid and Dwight himself that this girl isn't a goal digger. It would be a sad thing for such a good kid (Dwight), lets face it, he's still a kid himself. It's going to be a challenge for him.

Call me neive I guess. According to Royce her and Dwight have had a 3 yr relationship. You ever stop to think that maybe they are a bit more serious then we know? Maybe she is a gold digger. But its unfair of you to label her as one without knowing the facts.

Guys, I hate to play the devil advocate here, but I disagree with the majority of the posts about this subject. Dwight made this a matter to the general public when he started preaching about Christianity to everyone. Had Dwight kept his personal beliefs to his church and himself, then this would not be an issue at all. It's also interesting how it appears that the ones who are forgiving Dwight the most on various message boards are users who claim themselves to be Christian. From a person cynical about organized religion like myself or from a person of a different faith, can't you see how we could see Dwight as a hypocrite? I hope Dwight learns from this lesson and realizes that if he keeps certain issues like religious beliefs private then no one would make a big deal out of a private issue such as having a child out of wed-lock.

Anybody outside of local media and this message board making big deal out of it? No? Okay, good talk.

this is really dumb. if nobody cares that lebron has two "illegitimate" kids and no one is criticizing tom brady for having an "illegitimate" kid with a famous actor. then sure as hell nobody cares that dwight had a kid with a former orlando magic dancer. really people it is not a big deal. if you want to get all technical about it then pretty much everyone in the world is a "hypocrite."

But the difference is that none of them came into the league preaching something that totally contradicts having a child out of wed lock!

since some people want to get all technical and call dwight a hypocrite. how about you go look up the word in a religious context and see that you don't have any idea what you are talking about.

I didn't know that words had different connotations when it's religious, so does the word potato still mean the same thing as potato normally does when we are talking about religion? But seriously, please tell me how Dwight is not a hypocrite religiously speaking. Unless Dwight only practices certain aspects of the Bible, then he would be a hypocrite, right?
