"LMAO... OMG, Otis OWNED Riley!?!?" in quotes....

I just saw this on the Orlando Magic Official Website message board and it is very interesting.

to quote from a poster called 'star_phenom35'...

"LOL I was just reading the realgm magic boards and came across a Miami Heat thread that was talking about how horrible this year's team is and how long it would take them to get where they were 2 years ago.

They were talking about how Riley forced us to give them our 1st rounder this year. Now here's the funny part. Riley actually thought that we were going to be a bad team and they were going to be good because it was a CONDITIONAL pick, "lottery-protected" and compulsory to swap in 2009 if not swapped in 2008. With that said, Miami will be getting a top 3 pick this year and unless they are complete idiots they will not swap with us, thus making the 2009 swap compulsory! Everyone knows the Miami will be in the top 5 in the lottery AGAIN next year so in my eyes, Otis OWNED Riley!!!"

I dont have a login on that site but I really wanted to talk about this. Is this true? I expect the heat to rebound a bit next year but they could still be a lottery team. This would be so awesome if it is true.

I don't think that's true, and even if it is, next year with Wade/Haslem/Cook/Beasley, they will not be a lottery team.

I wouldn't go right away to say they will not be a lottery team.

But I'm still  they get stuck with OJ Mayo.

I still believe the magic will be better than miami next year so our pick would improve, maybe even to a lottery pick.

Could get very interesting in the 09 draft. But I think that what Miami is going through is very fixable in one summer. Remember who they have.

I am by no means saying they will not be a lotto team next year but, if they are its not going to be a top five pick.

And this doesnt mean crap if the pick isnt complusory in 2009

If this is true (probably not), I'll pray every night and day for Miami to have a top 5 pick.

Ricky Rubio

Miami has the right to swap its own 2008 1st round pick with Orlando's own 2008 1st round pick (top 14 protected). If Miami does not swap its own 2008 1st round pick with Orlando's own 2008 1st round pick (top 14 protected), then Miami shall receive Orlando's own 2008 2nd round pick and $500,000 cash. [Miami - Orlando, 6/7/2007]

well there you have it..wishful thinking tho

At worst they would be taking out 22nd pick for their 24th pick or something like that.

i wish riley was such a good guy that before he retired this year he would help the heat switch 1st round picks with us...

Ouch, so we just end up giving them our 2nd rounder instead.

Oh well, don't we have someone else's 2nd rounder this year?

I dont think so, but we need one. We only have 10 players under contract next season with only one draft pick and the MLE to add any quality pieces.

i would love to get our hands on Goran Dragic. All the scouts have talked very highly of him. We are going to need a backup PG and he has good size too. Here is his profile:

Maybe we could buy someone's late 1st rounder.

Didn't the Heat trade their 1st this year for Ricky Davis and Mark Blount?

Well, when you consider that we'll probably resign Auggie, and maybe even Arroyo (because of the added fanbase, not skill), that's 12 under contract, then 14 with draft pick and MLE, then we'll just use the LLE to get a veteran PG.

Yeah, so it essentially becomes Minnesota's option I think.

They obviously won't take it either.
