This is unbelievable and sad. Saw trailers for Batman and it looked like he'd be awesome as the Joker. Damn shame

It really is unbelievable. I didn't think he was a good pick for the Joker, but he looks awesome in the trailers. Got love a Knight's Tale and 10 Things I Hate About You (I'm not ashamed to admit it). His work will be missed. Best to his family.

10 things I hate about you is an awesome movie, he is mostly the reason why it was good.

Wow, 2nd young actor to die within a week....
Brad Renfro died last week, after a much publicized battle with heroin addiction......
Ledger didn't have any publicized issues..... which makes this so damn insane..... didn't see it coming.

If it's true that this was "recreational" drug related (the CBS page says that there were pills in the room), then it's selfish act which leaves a child without a father and causes irreversible damage to his family.

I think it's already in the can. He was working on other projects when he died.

According to TMZ, cops say it was an accidental overdose.

Truly tragic. Ledger was one of the best young actors in the business. As for The Dark Knight, it's already heavily in Post Production, so we'll be seeing it come summer regardless. It'll go the way of The Crow, and have legendary status because Ledger's Joker is supposed to be unreal. RIP Heath.

I didn't even know who he was until he got the Joker part in Batman. I never saw or paid attention to Brokeback Mountain. I did see Monsters Ball when it came out.
