In the four games leading up to his effort against the Pistons, Turkoglu was averaging just 13.5 points and shooting 25% from three-point range (3-for-12).

"The guy's had a great year," Van Gundy says, adding that his lull wouldn't last forever. "He's too good. I always use the baseball analogy about a .320 hitter who's hitting .180 in April, and everybody's in a panic. But by the end of the year he's hitting .300, .320 because that's what they do. Hedo has evolved into the 2nd option, but then Sweet Lew does something like the Piston game and flexes that $118 million muscle.

Basically, whoever of the two gets the less defensive attention becomes the 2nd option, and for the most part of this season that has been Hedo.

I noticed in the Detroit game that Hedo's running Layup is a money shot now. If the wing SF can drive to the hoop, AND hit the deep J, he's a tough guard. Now Hedo can say he's tough.

Is the runner the key to his elevations as a player? I say yes (in part of course.

Love Stan's quote, he's right on point and some fans need to really read that over and over again. He had a 4 game stretch where his shooting was off and the last 2 games he's played like the way he played 90% of the time, like an all-star. They will have some slumps.

I don't think anyone hates Hedo. The reason he's brought up in all thes etrade scenarios is because he's the only one that can get us back what we really need and thats a PF and/or PG. Howard is the franchise and Lewis is untradeable. We need a Horace Grant type PF? Hedo is the on;y trade piece we can use to get him.

So let me get this straight, just because Hedo is averaging more points, that makes him the second option? First, second, or even third option has to do with the team's offensive gameplan, not on the resultant boxscore. Shard is the second option here, but because he gets more attention, Hedo has been able to put up better numbers thus far. As Hedo gets more respect from opposing teams, those numbers will change throughout the rest of the season.

1. this is getting more and more incredible.
2. how many here comment without watching the games impartially?
3. detroit treated hedo as the third option by guarding him with prince, rasheed and hamilton taking turns.
4. most teams get the scouting report that hedo is the third option all throughout the game, especially in the fourth quarter and set their strategies accordingly.
5. claiming that rashard was anticipated as the second option prior to the season and the first few games is one thing, insisting on this anticipation as fact in the face of what is really going on is another thing which shall not be qualified here.

His opt-out doesn't come until after next season. It's possible to think too far ahead sometimes. They just got him playing the way they have wanted him to under Stan. I don't see them trading him right now. And maybe only after that if they think they won't be able to re-sign him in the summer of 2009. Hedo also hasn't been allowed to play the way he does here on any other team he has been on.
