I'm surprised that he hasn't been mentioned (Zaza)

I know that there a far more sexy ideas out there, but Zaza might be one that it far more realistic.
I think there is a general consensus that we could use an extra banger down low, and Zaza always been a tough-nosed kid, a good offensive rebounder, and gets to the line making his free throws at a pretty good clip.
He seems to have fallen out of favor recently in Atlanta, and even suspended for some altercation with Woodson, so there is probably a good chance that he is available at a good price. While the altercation is certainly something that would have to be considered when looking at acquiring a player, I don't believe that Zaza has a history of being a troublemaker. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but that, too, would have to be considered.
Like I said, we can dream up all kinds of deals we would like and players who we covet (Haslem, Lee, etc.), but in trying to look at things that might be more reasonable, I think Zaza should definitely be someone to consider, especially while his value is probably at it's lowest.
And hey, at the very least, it's another Magic killer not playing against us.

We need a PF who can shoot from 12-15 out, fights for rebounds, and defends. ZaZa is a scrappy scorer inside, but scoring isn't our problem. We need a Kurt Thomas or a Joe Smith or a Tony Battie far more than the alternative.

Foyle/ZaZa makes for a nice bench front court IMO...

Hawks fans have been calling him soft all season. And his games played this season is kind of discouraging.
And i think he has a 2 inch vertical.

To be honest, I wasn't looking at Zaza as on offensive weapon, but more that "scrappy" type, rugged inside presence who will hit the boards. Anyhow, Zaza
can hit short jumpers so it's moot point.
It's funny that you mention Joe Smith, as I wouldn't really consider him a defensive first kind of guy, and no better than Zaza in that regard.

To be honest, I can't really refute that. I haven't really seen him this season, so I can't comment on this season much.
However, like I said with regarding his confrontation with Woodson, historically Zaza has not been a soft player at all, in my opinion. He has been pretty much what we would want him to do here -- provide a big body who can rebound (he seems to sort of have that Ariza knack for the ball as a big man), play within the system, play hard and rugged, and score a few buckets here and there.
While I can't refute claims about his play this year by Atlanta fans (they may be right or wrong), you also have to account for how fans react. If they are anything like many Magic fans, there is a good chance there is some extreme overreacting going on. Even then, I'm more inclined to look at how someone has played historically rather than focus on one little tidbit of their career, and from what I've seen in his career suggests otherwise.
And i think he has a 2 inch vertical.
I couldn't really care less.
Foyle has like a two inch vertical, and he's been great off the bench for us.

Yeah, he's
exactly what we need...

for the record, i'm all for Zaza. he's the right kind of role player we need to add. he'd fill a need, but not disrupt the system.

I wouldn't mind Zaza myself. I hated that he was left out on the roster to be selected by the Cats 3 yrs ago. He would provide the Magic with some inside scoring and hard nose D. I wonder what caused him to struggled with the Hawks this season after playing pretty solid last season.

I posted a trade on the trade board offering Garrity and a 2nd rounder for Zaza and Hawks fans were down for it.

Pachulia makes sense when Howard was a PF. Now it does not.

I think Zaza could be a really good option off the bench and I think he's much more attainable than Joe Smith and Kurt Thomas.
His contract is very reasonable and if the Magic can turn Pat Garrity in to a useful front court player who rebounds decently, I don't see how Otis could say no.

Zaza would be a good fit off the bench, but then where does that put Foyle. We really need a starting PF. Zaza's got the toughness factor of a starter down, but his offensive repertoire doesn't include the crucial 15-17 ft jumper. Thus, he wouldn't be a good fit next to Dwight as a starter.
I wouldn't mind picking Zaza up for our bench, but then it would make sense to send Foyle out in a package trade for a starting PF. Picking up Zaza would make sense, but it's not the first move we should do.

yes, Zaza would be a big help off the bench with Foyle. Zaza/Foyle = one defensive, hard nosed front court, and who knows, may even score a few points...

^^ With Zaza, you can count on the offense coming from him.

Zaza was my fav player the one year he was here so year i would love to bring him back. Maybe Garrity and a second rounder? Or Dooling straight up.
