Hedo and expirings for Marion
With us not being able to deal Rashard and needing a tougher defensive presence how does this sound.....
Hedo
Carlos
Garrity
for
Shawn Marion
Hedo's stock has risen in the first part of the year and he has a much better contract than Marion, who has expressed interest in being traded, Carlos provides them a nice backup and expiring contract, Garrity is an expiring contract.
Marion next to Dwight - Defensive machine and Marion on the wing running.....
Will let Rashard guard the 3 more and get his legs back on offense.
Anyway....Just a thought.

When you say "we,'' you're not referring to the Magic, are you?
Marion's contract is up this summer. And he's already upset that the Suns wouldn't sign him for $20 million-plus per season for a few more seasons before this season started. Hedo's is not up until summer 2009 -- and only then if he chooses to opt out, which I would be surprised if he doesn't. And I'm guessing that the Magic wouldn't be Marion's first choice when he came up for contract renewal this summer, either. Do you recall him begging the Suns not to trade him to Orlando for Tracy McGrady? Well, he did.
See, this is one of those situations where you have to take chemistry into account, and you just can't swap quality player for quality player -- even without considering the contract situations. One of the reasons that Marion is as good as he is: He's always played with one of the league's best point guards, either Jason Kidd or Steve Nash, who gets him the ball in a spot where he doesn't have to handle it a lot. And when he did play with Stephon Marbury, the Suns were not nearly as good. And one of the reasons that Hedo has been so good this year is because he has been allowed to do a little more ball handling, creating, etc., and his ability to do so has helped Orlando win games, too.

Ummmm, we are contenders now. Hedo is our best player outside of Howard, so why would we trade him?. Marion is a good player but if he is not happy in Phoenix, what makes anyone think he would be a good fit here?

I think that a trade for Marion would fix some problems that this team has.
Marion can defend basically from the 1 thru 4 positions. This would allow the Magic to be more flexible with their line-ups. They could play big with Marion at the 2 spot or he could defend PF as well and allow Rashard to play his more natural SF spot. He would help Dwight on the boards and it could lead to more fastbreaks.
We would probably have to take back Marcus Bank's contract as part of the deal. Plus I think that Phoenix would probably like to get a big man that could help them move Amare to the PF spot.
I thought about a 3-way deal that included Philadelphia and would get Dalembert to Phoenix along with Turkoglu.
Marion could also be a key part of a big time trade for the Magic next summer if he decided he didn't want to stay with the Magic. I know that he would be an unrestricted free-agent but are there any quality teams that will have significant cap room next year? I know that the Suns talked about trading him to the Lakers for Kobe but did not want the deal because the Suns are in their own division. If Kobe decided that he did not want to stay with the Lakers (Seems like a bit of a stretch right now with the way they are playing) the Magic could put a decent package together around Marion. He could also be a part of an Arenas trade.

I love hedo's game but Marion would bring us extra defense and rebounding and can score like hedo. He could play the PF and Shard move to natural SF for him..
Only problem would be resigning Marion which would be slightly difficult to say the least unless he'd sign for less then expected. With that in mind I'm not sure it would be the best idea.
