I cant believe im saying it, but the guy we really need is Ron Artest...we'd be better off IMO injecting a guy like Ron into out 2 spot, if for anything the instant defense and hustle...a better PG might cost us too much, and could change our chemistry...ideally a real PF with range and rebounding would be prime, but i think Ron is more realistic, and probably cheaper...

I'd rather sign a guy like Ron to a long-term contract than a big. Once Batman comes back, we'll be fine down low. Our backcourt is horrible with no sign of relief in sight.

I'm down with that. I think Howard could actually be a great influence to the guy as well. Artest really hasn't done anything this year to warranty bad talk about him and he has played great.

apparently Artest has actually lost him mind...but, im cool with having a psychopath on the team, as long as it equals wins and Dwight doesnt end up dying his hair and having 6 more kids out of wedlock...

I'll disagree, Howard is what 6 years younger. Ron is gonna be Ron no matter who he plays with. The only way Dwight helps him is if he gets a PhD in Psychiatry, so he can write him scripts for Zoloft, to keep him from killin ya'll (Mike Tyson, 2001)
You look confused...let me fill you in.

artest is exactly what this team needs.... i was thinking that before opening up this thread.... he even said somewhere recently that he doesnt care about money on his next contract he only wants a ring he said that hed live on the streets if it meant he could get a ring it was a pretty good article ill see if i can find it some where...

artest would lock down the other teams best player every night... and drop almost 20ppg. if he could understand his role on the team he would raise this team to a whole new level

Yo Thief, you got right man. I have been telling every Magic fan I know that the Magic need Artest. I think he is a good fit for this team for all of the reasons already stated on the boar. The only risk is that you never know when he is going to ask for the whole season off to make another rap album. But he would be a key piece in moving the Magic up to elite status in the league. A true rebounding PF is all that would be left.

Ugh. I'm gonna have to disagree thIEf. Artest plays SF and we already have 2 good SFs. On top of that, Artest is STILL a headcase and would be bad for the locker room.

Artest can and has played the 2...and he would have to play that role here, and I'm sure he would be fine with that...he loves to guard the big name guy anyway...Rip Hamilton and Prince dont go bananas on Artest...and as far as a bad locker room guy, i dont think he's been labeled a bad locker room presence, a head case yea, but maybe this team needs a disrupted locker room...

I would love to have Artest here. A defensive stopper on the perimeter and a guy who can score, rebound and pass...definitely would put us in the championship hunt.

i dont realistically see another guy out there that could make a bigger impact on this team than Artest...of all of the names out there that are "on the block" Artest is the only one that brings a little bit of everything and a whole lot of a few things we need...not to mention he's on the whole time he's on the court...

I can actually go either way, I can see both pros and cons. I think with the team we have and a coach in SVG, could have an effect on him and maybe streighten him out. If you seperate the head case factor out of the equation, you have a very tough, hardworking player with 18ppg. If we did that our 2 spot would be a log jam with Dooling, Kebo, evans, JJ. What kind of trade do you suggest to get him thief?

Thief: You're right that maybe this team needs a disruption in the locker room. Van Gundy called this team out a few weeks ago and said that they need to start knocking guys down. They still don't. Yesterday's game showed our inability to stop penetration. Paul Pierce was basically just waltzing into the lane on every posession in the first half. Artest would limit that from happening. This team needs a hard nosed player that will rough up the other team a little. Also, something that is overlooked with Artest...is that he is a pretty good player. He can fill up the stat sheet almost every night...you know you are getting at least 18, 4, 4...which is pretty good.

I meant bad influence. I know that Artest has always wanted to win. I just think some of his attitude on and off the court would be a bad influence on our players in the long.

Take Indiana for example, he helped build that team up with his toughness. However, in the end that franchise has been sent reeling because of his actions.

It's great to have a crazy guy that likes you, but the problem is that you can be certain that it's only temporary.

I would love for us to get this guy . He would bring that toughness this team needs . He can play the 2,3, or 4 . Hell he's 6'8 and 240 pounds. I saw that article , he said he didn't care about money because whatever he made would be left to his kids . All he cares about is a ring . We could get this guy if Otis will
