Schmitz on Redick (O-Sen blogs)

Post#1 » by drsd » Mon Feb 4, 2008 4:06 pm

If the Magic aren't playing a frustrated J.J. Redick, why not send him to their NBA Developmental League affiliate (Anaheim Arsenal)for some seasoning, for some actual game action?

O-Sen: Time To Send J.J. To D-League

When Redick looks around, how can he believe his situation is ever going to change?

Van Gundy professes that he loves Redick the practice player, but, obviously, he doesn't believe in him enough yet on game-nights.

O-Sen: If Magic Keep Redick, Than Either Evans or Bogans Must Go

The Magic have several expiring deals they could use in a trade, plus J.J. Redick.

Could Redick ($2 mill) and Pat Garrity's expiring contract ($3.8 mill), plus another sweetner, fetch Thomas?

O-Sen: Trade (for) Rebounder For Playoffs

Several choices suggest by Schmitz. I added the choice of doing nothing to the suggestions. This leads to the poll. What should the Magic do with JJ Redick? Vote early, vote often.

As much as I want to keep Redick and use him as the primary backup, after trading for a starting quality SG, I'm almost to the point where I'd rather see if the Magic can trade him.

To me, the worst move they can make is just sitting him. I haven't heard anything close to a reasonable explanation of why he's with the team but not playing.

Also, D-League wouldn't change the way Stan looks at JJ, IMO.

Play him or trade him, the backcourt is far too poor to be inactive.

It's funny how the Magic bench can become purgatory for some.

I voted for trading Redick. We need more defense and his career wastes away on our bench. Might as well trade him where he can at least get some floor time. He's useless for us at the moment.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

I say trade him, but only because this dumbass managementt couldn't develop or judge talent unless it's a lottery pick. Lets get something for him and then I'd love to see JJ light it up against us. I'd want us to win of course, but I know this kid can help a team out there. He can score 10-15 easily a night. Tonight was a perfect example of why he should have played as Hedo and Shard were just way off. Why not give him a shot to get some points and maybe light a spark?

I suggested sending JJ to the D-League a while ago...it still doesn't make sense to have him sit on the bench when Stan has almost straight up said he has no shot at playing this season.

in a game like tonight, when both Turk and Lewis were struggling to score, we really could've used JJ's shooting more than Bogan's defense and 0-3 fgs.

THAT is the time JJ should get chances. SVG needs to give the kid a chance.

Maybe thats just my opinion though.

I totally agree with you that is his niche or should be, but it also has to say something that he can't get playing time in front of Evans, Bogans, and Dooling, especially when we are trailing like that. I can't believe that he will be on our roster next year, it doesn't make any sense to me.

not really. all it's saying to me is that i think we've found SVG's first noticable flaw. his reluctance to play particular players at particular times even though they're needed.

ie. Ariza. JJ. Nelson.

i'm certainly not hatin on SVG, but i've got a feeling that this could become an issue with him.

Didn't we say the same thing about B.Hill? At what point do we recognize that this kid isn't good enough to play for us? A year and a half now, two different coaches, and he's gotten zip for playing time and can't get into the rotation with guys like Evans, Bogans, and Dooling ahead of him. I know what it says to the rest of the league though. JJ, your stock be dropping like a stone.
