Answers to being championship contenders??

Post#1 » by magicfanejc42 » Mon Feb 4, 2008 7:53 pm

So, we all have been trying to think of trades that help the Magic as much as possible.. I think these could do it...

Orlando Sends

Arroyo
Bogans
Battie
Second Round Pick

Orlando Receives
Brad Miller

2nd Trade

Orlando Trades

Dooling
Garrity
Auggie
Fran
Future First

Memphis trades

Mike Miller
Kyle Lowry

Orlando's new roster

Nelson/Lowry
Miller/JJ
Lewis/Evans
Hedo/Cook/Foyle
Dwight/Miller/Gortat

The SL could be different with Miller/Hedo/Lewis being almost interchagable.

That gives us another shooter. A good rebounding big man who can also pass and shoot well. and a young PG who has nice upside.

Could those two trades put us in contention? Or are they too unrealistic?

Seems like too big a scenario to me when we're winning. If we were on a 10 game losing streak or something...maybe. Not right now.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

Yeah, great idea. Let's blow up the roster when we're the third best team in the East.

Im not opposed to making a trade to put us over the top. But you need to put in mind chemistry and injury/reserve players when your presenting some of these trades.

I think Mike Miller would fit in here...but at what costs? A few first rounders and a expiring? ...unlikely.

1. sacramento kings, also known as the clueless idiots, would gladly make that trade.
2. a guy who is at the top of his form, who has recently recorded 2 20-20 games in three outings, who has been just selected the western conference player of the week, is of course going to be traded for dirt and change.
only 10 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists shy of yet another triple double - anonymous

The chemistry would form, This year is not to be our year. Miller is supposedly a good locker room guy and a leader. Miller is at the top of his game and a BIG SG who could and would help us dominate games.. That team would be the team to beat for years to come.

The thing is, if we do those two trades, our MLE looks like $6mil and a ring.. and any vet player looking for a ring next year will be here for cheap..

IDK, It's not really built for this year, but next.

I didn't even read the original post because I saw another long-winded trade proposed that could never happen. However, what's the greatness of being 3rd in the East? Should we now become complacent because we're not even halfway through and are 3rd in the East?

Well damn, it certainly sounds pretty and is a nice step up for us, but we've all seen what the #1 and #2 teams have done against the West in the playoffs in the years since Jordan -- being the #3 team really means very little more than a sweep in the finals if we're lucky. My, how I'd love to experience that again.

3rd in the East as of now is better than most expected.

It's great to have the ultimate goal of winning a title, but achieving that goal requires meeting objectives along the way.

This team as is, is not an elite team.

Howard, with further development, can make this an elite team. He's not ready yet, and the support around him is mediocre.

Improvement....... this year over the last ten? Yes.

Time..............

I'm not saying to trade anyone, I just found the remark about us being 3rd in the east and a reason to leave us alone as comical.

IF there were a way for the east to win negative games against the west in the finals I'm betting in half the years since Jordan retired it would've happened. Being the #3 East team means little.

All I'm saying is ..if you want to go for a big man out West to bring to Orlando that would make us an instant contender, look no further than Elton Brand.

Yes he had surgery this year and all, but he's the perfect power forward to put next to Dwight Howard.

I can see the championships rolling in now.

Jameer/Hedo/Rashard/Brand/Howard.

Domination.

Of course that all depends on a Clippers melt down.

When there's a trade that helps us you do it, no matter what your record is.

Ok im only going to say this once. The only thing our team needs is a solid PG. End of story. We have Nelson, Arroyo, and Dooling playing a three man rotation. And damn it there is atleast 5 Pgs in the league right now that averages the same amount of assists as those three combined. That says alot. A PGs main duty is to set up the offense and pass the ball. Which none of our PGs do.... Until we get a legit PG in there we will be 3rd in the East. This is not about getting another PF. Dear god Dwight should be averaging about 30pts a agame right now. He should be getting about 10 alley oops a game. Everytime he gets an alley oops I say to myself why dont they run that play mroe often. It cant be stopped but yet he gets an alley oop maybe 4 times a game at best. If we were to land Kidd, Nash, Williams, or Paul they would be averaging 15asts per game. Any point guard would be lucky to have Howard as their Center. And I am sooooo sick of our PGs not taking advantage of that combo.

Well, Dwight had 28 points Monday and Orlando got outrebounded by about 12 -- and that's with Hedo getting double-digit rebounding and assists. So maybe that wasn't the answer.

T-minus 16 days and counting until the trade deadline. I can't wait until it has passed.

Miller has been discussed to death. THe point is he made sense when the Magic played Howard at the PF slot. But now, he is not a fit.

Together Nelson(5.6) Arroyo(3.7) and Dooling(1.7) average 11 asts per game

Nash - 11.8
Paul - 10.8
Kidd - 10.4
Williams - 9.7
Calderon - 8.7

These are the top 5 players in assists per game. And some Magic fans can make their case saying Dooling is not a PG hes a SG. I for one counted him as a PG. but If you take out his stats Nelson and Arroyo are only averaging 9,3 assists together.

Both Nelson and Arroyo have only played 41 of the magic's 50 games or about 80% of their games...so their assists per game should be adjusted for that--9.3 times 80% equals about 7.2 asists per game, well below the elite guards. Remember the elite guards have backups two that get one or two assits per game.

With Howard and shooters like Turgulu and Lewis, orladon's point guards should be averging 10 assists per game. Orlando should go get Andre Miller. Expirings , a 2009 first round pick and Vasquez will get him,[/b]
