We NEED Andre Miller

Post#1 » by reddog4720 » Tue Feb 5, 2008 9:06 pm

Ok,

After watching last nights game, I'm set that we need Andre Miller. We need a point guard that can defend and that can PASS the ball. Hedo had a 'great' game getting a triple double but he is always doing to much. He is the only one that can set up the offense.

Andre Miller

for

arroyo/garrity/dooling or arroyo/dooling/JJ or arroyo/garrity/JJ

This is perfect for all parties. They get Cap and possibly a shooter in JJ, and we get a year an a half fix at point.

Jameer can be the spark off the bench. A much better roll for him.

This also allows us to solely focus on SG and PF with the MLE this summer.

Please Otis make it so.

they would want our draft pick too, that might be the sticking point.

It would probably be:

Arroyo
Dooling
Garrity
JJ
2008 pick
a second round pick

for

Miller
Evans

This puts their payroll at 20M next year, enough to give Iggy the max and sign another max player (Emeka??).

I would do this. This would give us a chance against Detroit since none of our current point guards can handle Billups.

Miller/Jameer
Evans/Bogans
Hedo/Bogans
Rashard/Evans or Cook/Auggie
Dwight/Foyle/Gortat

next year, Battie comes back, sign a SG/SF for MLE, maybe Fran comes over, maybe even buy a late first rounder from a good team near lux tax and draft a project point.

No way the kings go for this... why don't people get tired of proposing such one-sided deals?

The kings dont have much say in this deal.......

This isnt one sided either. They get enough cap space to sign two max players, they tank the rest of year and get a top 5 pick, pick up another late 1st. I mean look at what Memphis just got for Pau, who is a big and 3 years younger.

We have a decent chance of getting Oliver "Pig" (??) Miller of yore, but not Andre, Mike, or Brad -- keep your sites reasonable, this is Otis!!!

The Magic could use a SG that can get steals, or play efficient ball, more than they need an upgrade at the PG slot.

Reasonable guys are: Marko Jaric, Monta Ellis, Larry Hughes, Devin Harris, Kevin Martin, Jason Richardson, John Salmons, Jamal Crawford, Josh Childress. (I won't propose how the Magic could actually get one of these guys).

Any of these guards would be more useful for the Magic than Andre Miller. Building a winning team is generally not done by assembling an all-star roster.

Monta, K.Martin and Richardson are reasonable guys? We could never get them! Besides, a PG upgrade is far more needed than another SG. Evans right now is a very nice piece of our squad... can play defense, can slash, can hit the ocasional outside shot and doesn't demand the ball.

Also, lets pretend that rumor of Haslem for Redick and the first pick has some legs...
Howard
Haslem
Lewis
Turk
Arroyo/Nelson.
What's the missing piece there to become a serious contender? Yep, a good PG. I don't know if Miller would be the answer as I also have my doubts on him being as good as people say he is but he would definitely be an upgrade. Turk at th SG would have some problems on defense against quicker SGs but we would have Mo and Dooling coming from the bench to play hard nosed defense.

Lets play pretend here and say we could get Miller for Garrity+Arroyo+future first:

Howard/Foyle
Haslem/Battie/Cook
Lewis/Turk/Mo
Turk/Mo/Dooling/Bogans
Miller/Nelson/Dooling

Hell yeah, pipe dream...

At this point I wouldn't oppose that. Miller with Dooling backing up > Nelson+Arroyo with Dooling backing up.
