Bogans needs to go

Post#1 » by Bensational » Thu Feb 7, 2008 2:30 am

I'm sorry, but i can't handle seeing him continuously shoot horrible percentages.

his defense is ok, but just ok. i don't want him off the team (despite the title of the thread), but his minutes need to start going to JJ. it's ridiculous.

our team is notorious for starting cold and going cold. we should at least try JJ.

however, this isn't a JJ thread, this is just a frustration at Bogans complete lack of offense since his hot start. i don't think his defensive game is enough to make up for the loss on the offensive end. he doesn't command respect from defenders because he's not consistent, which just makes it harder for Lewis, Hedo and Dwight.

what is he doing that's impressing SVG so much?

meanwhile, i'm glad we've got Mo Eva out there doing his thing. had we made it this far into the season without him we'd be in some pretty big trouble and i could still see JJ getting neglected.

he's not shooting THAT badly. 36% from behind the arc is pretty decent. And he's one of our better defenders.

I agree, I really thought Bogans had changed but right now hes no better than Laron Profit. I personally dont like JJ at all and would not mind seeing him along with the other schmucks on our roster (arroyo garrity etc.) dealt before the deadline. I keep reading everywhere that SVG likes JJ but basically says his D is not good enough to get minutes. Has he not watched his team? Who plays defense? Last time I checked we get scored on by everyone in the league. I say lets experiment with the lineups as much as possible over the next month (like play JJ or throw in cook at the 4 and move hedo to the 2) to find what works for the playoffs.

while I'm not going to be sad if he is traded

I don't think he needs to go.......right now evans is playing great but if he were to get hurt I think Bogans would be back to his early season start in the starting lineup

I think b/c he is coming off the bench he feels the need to force shots while he is out there for a short period of time

if we had solid play at the pg and dooling could be fulltime backup at sg then I would say so but JJ shouldn't play big minutes

Bogans is a solid backup SG who can shoot from distance and defend. I am fine with his role now.

Not hating on Bogans. I just think SVG is BSing us on why when we go up 15 JJ doesnt see time. Even more, Otis is starting to get on my nerves. "i like our team , i like our team" well otis im glad you like it so much.. too bad its not good enough to win the east. Good point with Bogans off the bench forcing shots....

as Prorl says, it just seems when he's coldest he shoots most which highlights it to me. he does have some underrated performaces.

he has been awful lately, didnt even score the last 2 games 0-8, 0-7 from three, he needs to do something else besides shoot the 3 ball if he can, he just stands there and jacks up three's...the last 6 games he is 9-37 (24%), so is he that good of a defender?. but we know jj wont be playing anytime soon...

Bogan's is OK as a back up.

Some days he's solid, others he's not. Same deal with his defense.

This is the big problem with our sg position, and a carry over conversation that we were having in another thread. We have a glut of mediocre players there. If we could combine their talents, we might have something. I like each one of them for different reasons, but they are all bench help at best. We need to keep half of them, and deal the other half. If they truly like JJ as much as they say, then fine, trade away the guys in front of him. I'd prefer to have only two backups instead of four thank you. Bogans only makes my final rosters for next year because of his small contract and assumed lack of interest from other teams. I don't care anymore which ones we keep. I'm guessing the two with the least value around the league.

you guys really need to relax on our players. If a player is off for any amount of time we immediately want that person traded when the truth is we dont need to move anyone this season. yeah we all have our arguments about the oint guard position but besides that we are fine. Bogans hits big shots when we need them, and its not like they were bad looks some of them he was wide open for he just didnt knock them down. His missed shots didnt kill us.

His 0-5 shooting in 24 minutes played - stinkball - is not helping his case.

But oddly enough we still outscored the Nets by quite a bit while he was on the floor. Odd how that works out [actually noticed this a couple of times now].

Right now out of our guard rotation Bogans would be the guy I look to trade. While his value isnt the highest of them all, he does offer teams what we saw/see in him [denfense/shot] which is always handy; but we have that but better in Mo Evans.

I'd like to keep Redick because I do think we have a role for him.

Dooling covers us so well at PG and SG, someone we can put on multiple types of players and offers a "spark" in so many different ways off the bench. He's prob our best energy guy, I dont want to lose that.

He is shooting more to gain his confidence back, thats what shooters do when in a funk. Im ok with Bogans though his game has been sub par I still think he can defend very very well. If traded it better be worth it.

Bogans played very well for us last night, sure he missed all 5 of his shots, but he had a good "not on the box score" games...he had great position on nearly every possession last night on defense and he forced a lot of bad NJ shots which is excellent considering he was guarding VC/Wright/Kidd on the switch...he created good swing on offense and allowed for others to setup...he just had an off night shooting, when most of the time he nails a few big shots for us...the guy doesnt get enough love...
