Orlando needs to make a move if they are remotely serious about being a contender in the playoffs. If you can't win at home, you aren't going to win of the road. There are several teams in the nba, who orlando cannot beat if they ever met in the playoffs or finals:

1. Pistons
2. Celtics
3. Spurs
4. Suns
5. Lakers
6. Jazz
7. Cavs
8. NO
9. Etc..Houston

I'd be worried about playing the Hawks, raptors as well.

If orlando makes a move, a o'neal/Miller move, they would surely benefit and rocket past several of those teams. But they won't Otis says they're OK! yeah okay... smith is as good as a GM as he was a player.. average.

Smith is better than average. I'm sorry, but so many people are negative against him, but the fact of the matter is that almost every single team's fans think they're GM sucks.

The reason Smith says he's fine with the team he has now is because there is no reason to publicly put unneeded stress on these players. He doesn't want to say things like "well we might trade this guy" or "we might be interested in this player" because why announce these types of things? When he made the Ariza trade, did he announce anything beforehand?

Obviously as fans, we want as much info as possible about internal affairs. But even though it annoys us when he says the things we don't want to hear, you have to think behind the scenes he and SVG are privately discussing things and looking at trade scenarios. He's made some pretty good moves as GM so far. I can't think of any trade yet where we got raped or that we didn't end up benefiting from.

But yes, obviously future moves will have to take place to ultimately put us over the top. But for now, we have a team that might possibly win 50 games this season. That's incredibly impressive for the time being, so I just can't justify hating on our GM.

Lakers only won by 4. I don't think this game is necessarily indicative of anything.

Lakers won on the road... only the third game gasol and kobe played together, and bynum is out. everyone is making moves, and orlando is a pretender right now IMO.

Well explain was this game is an indicator, let alone a 100% indicator. I love it when people just say things and don't bother explaining the rational behind it.

Magic, I agree with most of what you said. But what has smith done that makes him above average?

Picking dwight over okafor, wasn't that easiest decision, he did well there. He passed on granger for Fran, he passed on brewer for redick. He gave nelson an unwarranted extension, and give lewis a huge deal, which i think is reasonable justified.

Mike Miller is definitely a player I'd like to see us snag.

lets relax a little here. We have beaten good teams. What is wrong with you guys thinking we should win every game. We are a good team, after being 4 straight seasons under .500. It takes a little time to be a championship contender. We are on the right track. This is the first season of the Lewis and SVG era. I think we can cut them a little slack.

While Miller is a very good player, 3 point shooting isn't your weakness.

Players I'd suggest going after:

Udonis Haslem
Jeff Foster
Joe Smith
Chris Wilcox(taking Earl Watson's contract would probably be required)
Samuel Dalembert

thats why i said SOME. who knows if hedo is ever going to play a whole year at this level. If the magic brings in miller/miller/or o'neal, orlando could play with any team in the league. right now, they cant.

Refs played a huge role in this win and we still almost won. Picked a bad loss to create this thread, our guys busted their balls tonight.

fouls are part of the game, orlando doesn't have the talent the other teams do. im not talking about this specific game, but the whole year.

If you look at our home and away records, it's pretty clear that that isn't true.

And I'm not going to blame the game on the refs, because every single time we lose we blame it on them. The fact was that when you have the best player in the game. He will get the majority of the calls. Plus the fact good teams draw fouls most of the time.

Mike Miller in a trade really dosen't help us. He just shoots the ball, and we already have that. We need people who can play defense and rebound the ball. Add toughness to the team which all Championship teams have. But first, we really need a PG.

Tonight was not a playoff game. If teams are really tougher to beat at home during the playoffs, then we will be too. I don't think its the end of the world that we lost a regular season game to a good team at home by four points.

This game doesn't really indicate anything.

After the Pau trade many people were clamoring how the Lakers were now the favorite in the West. Well, in that case, I'd say this game indicates we're pretty good.

It was a hard fought close game, which could have gone either way.

We lost to a good team.


Are we a perfect team? No.

Is this our final roster? No.

We are a good team however, and we're continually making steps in the right direction.

If there is anything that this game does indicate, it's that we need someone we can yank off the bench to go in and get the occasional technical roughing up the Pau Gasol's of the world. He doesn't have to be a jerk, he's just got to play like one sometimes (see: Bowen).

Lakers are good but there still missing one of there best players. IMO Bynum makes them a really difficult team because he clogs the lane on defense and is extremely difficult to contain one on one offensively. Lakers are a good team right now but they just lost to the Hawks.
