I don't know what's so amazing about that vid either. I didn't see him do anything that Jameer, Carlos, or Keyon couldn't have done in that level of competition.

I've had my eye on Rubio for awhile now, people have comapred him to Pistol Pete but without the jumper. Ricky supposedly plays some great defense as well. I would be estatic to one day have him running the show here in Orlando.

In the Euroleague he dropped like 57 points, he absolutely dominates people, at 16/17

I can tell you right now that the video does not do him justice in the least. He basically runs that team so amazingly, no matter the competition, but he's been doing it from such a young age.

But I love this "level of comeptition". The euroleague that he is considered one of the best players in it produces the players that beat USA in the past few events they've been 2. And lets see some of the products in the NBA ... oh yeah, last years MVP dirk.

Seriously Euroleague has to be considered alot higher level than it is.

He reminds me of a young Jason Williams. The seemingly out-of-control dribble drive is interesting.

"euroleague" is not a general term for european-based leagues. In europe each country has its own domestic league, and Rubio plays in spain, which has the strongest domestic league. The Euroleague is a league played parallel to the domestic leagues and contains the best teams of each country.
Rubio isn't playing in the Euroleague this year, and the 51 pts game was in an under-16 tournament (while he was 15).

the kid SHOULD be the #1 pick in the draft when he's eligible. He's a Combo Guard, but IMO a little more PG, he'd be a monster PG. The fact though is that his jump shot isn't pretty, but EVERYTHING else about this game is amazing. The thing he's really special at is defense though. He led the Euroleage last year in steals I believe at about 3 per game in like 20 minutes, at the age of 17. Thats insane. The guy is a tremendous defensive talent that is a plenty able passer and slasher. He should go #1, and there is no way the magic will be getting him.

I saw him play last fall when Joventut was playing an exhibition game in my hometown during open house festivities of my hometown club.

His court vision is amazing, even moreso for a 16 year old (which he was at the time). He's been leading the Spanish league in steals for a while, even though he doesn't log heavy minutes yet (somewhere in the 20's) because they thought it would be bad for his development to let him play that many minutes before his body is ready for it.

His shot technique was a little bit awkward looking though, he needed a lot of time to get a shot off and really didn't jump much when shooting, you couldn't shove a phonebook underneath him when he shot. For him to be effective in the NBA he'll need to develop that. Imagine what he could be like if you can't leave him open because he'll hit the shot and you can't defend him because he's so quick and has so much court vision to find an open man even though he's very well covered, could be scary!

He has been pegged a potential 1st overall pick for the 2009 draft for a while now, by the way.

I was looking quite forward to watching Rudy Fernandez, whom the Suns drafted in the 1st round but sold to the Blazers this year. He's easily one of the best players in Europe right now, if not the best, at 22 years old. I've been following the Blazers ever since that 2006 draft where they got Aldridge and Roy, so I was very curious to see what he could do; which is a bit of everything. He's very athletic, can hit the three, is very effective driving to the basket and is a solid defender. He might still be a little bit too lean to be effective in the NBA righ tnow though, particularly as a SF, although he's more of a SG anyway.
