I love what Walton said, "Shaq's arrogance is an insult to people who think."

Shaq is definitely full of personality, but he isn't very smart either. Too many times I've watched Shaq in a post game interview where he contradicts himself or misunderstands questions. I'd rather have Dwight's personality because it comes with a brain. Harsh, I know, but true.

I MUCH prefer D12 over the Big-Narcissistic.

Shaq couldn't play for the Heat because he's too injured, and looked to be out until after the ASW. Then he turns around and practices with the Suns and is ready to play in a weeks time.

Over the past 3.5 seasons he played 204 games out of a possible 287. He missed about a season worth of time.

The Heat paid him about 70 million dollars in that span. So, of that total, about 20 million dollars were paid for him to sit on the bench in a suit.


Walton is right in this aspect.

why should shaq play in miami if he's not 100% healthy. they weren't going anywhere? if it was a meaningful year you know he would be there but the team had nothing going for them. the Suns is a different story. This happens all the time, guarantee if Marbury or JO get out of NY or Indy they will play this year also.

I could go on and on. Look at KG in Minny. Year after year they stunk up the joint and KG gave it his all, all the time.

If Shaq didn't play until after the ASW then things might be different.

So he's choosing not to play when he could be playing.

The thing is that by playing when you are not fully healthy, you are risking more than just your reputation. how many of us wish that Grant Hill had sat out the playoffs the year before we signed him? By playing on a hurt ankle he did further damage that didnt fully heal until 3 surgeries and 4 years later. teh same type of situation basically ended Bobby Sura's career. So guys like Jermaine, Shaq, and Steph all realize that they are getting older and risking injury for a situation where they may not even be able to help isn't the best career decision. Of course fans, want to see big name stars, but at the same time we can't be selfish and expect guys to put everythign on the line just because we pay for a ticket.

The point for me is that in about the span of a week, he was not able to play for weeks to being ready to play. The only change in the circumstances is the uniform.

I understand the conscious decision not to play and that there's life after basketball.

Just live up to it that you choose not to play when you could.

Of course we can expect them to be there if we can. Aren't we, in effect, paying for them to play?

We, well most, spend our own hard earned money for the ticket. It's natural to expect to get what we are paying for.

Again had Shaq sat out, or at least said that he was going to rest, until after the ASW, things would be different.
