Post#1 » by BoricuaBoi » Wed Feb 13, 2008 6:10 pm

Does anyone think that Dwights gonna develope a consistant 15 foot jumper in the next two years. im not in any hurry for him to start shooting just a thought.

even though i hate brian hill with a passion. i have 2 admit he was right. and before dwight gets a jumper he needs to shoot atleast 70% from the line.

i just think as soon as he gets that mid range jumper he will truly be the most dominant big man in the NBA. im not really worried about his free throws cuz its not like hes always shotng them badly. he has is good and bad nights.

Very true about good and bad nights, its just for every 1 good night he has about 5 bad nights. Maybe u didnt know that dwight gets to the line more per game then anyone else in the NBA ( Lebron,Kobi,Wade ) yes, i think its like 10 shots Per. sometimes more. if he makes a few more free throws those 4 point losses = Wins. Jumper is not and SHOULD NOT be his main focus at this point.

He does it by working on it everyday. It takes time.

he averages 12 free throw attempts per game. i personally think he rushes them hes got good form and a good release. also if he brings it up to at least 75 percent were lookin at about five or six more points he can average in a year. so i think both are imortant.

i dont really care if he ever develops one, as long as he wrecks the inside game, and keeps the offense from scoring, i'll be a happy man...

60% to 75% on 12 free throws a game is 1.8 more points a game... so I'm not sure where the 5-6 is coming from.

its just off the top of my head bro my bad. the thing is since Dwight does rely on his big frame and athletisism to over power defenses his knees will soon become like shaqs in about six or seven years if he developes a shot then it can take the strain off of his knees, im not saying he shouldnt posterize someone when he gets the chance just to be smart about his career. Duncan can probably play another seven years because of not taking as much of a beating as shaq has or Dwight will.

shaq has carried too much wieght on his knees almost his whole life which is part of the reason that he has bad knees... i would hope dwight doesnt have the same problem.... the big thing with learning a jumpshot is that players fall in love with it because its easier to raise up and shoot the jumper rather than banging down low night in and night out.
i personally like his game... dominating the paint

yes i undrestand but i am saying is that if he can mix the two he can be possibly the greates ever. or at least in the last 20 years. i was only about six when Heckeem played in the finals against Orlando but he seemed to have that post up jumpshot mix pretty well.

Dwight, his frame, knees, back, ankles, feet and shoulders are nothing like Shaq's. His physique is lean and ripped, he is toned and muscular unlike Shaq. He appears to have a solid exercise and training group which in turn produces less stress on his joints, muscles and more importantly his knees...

Amare and Oden also dont have Dwight's physique...Dwight was destined to be diesel and hammered, neither of those 2 were...

yea man but what about those nights that Dwights not getting the calls in the paint and the team stops giving him the ball, also the three second violations that happen frequently. if he developes a jumpshot he doesnt have to worry about number one commiting many offensive fouls, worrying if hes gonna get the call and he can cut down on those 3 second violations. i mean for now yea dunk it as many times as you can big man but i wanna see Dwight in magic uniform for the next ten or eleven years so he needs to worry about those knees.

players who dont have shaqs physique and have knee trouble.

Amare
Oden

hes gotta be careful for his future and ours as fans

Remember, Amare didn't have a consistent jumper until his leg surgeries where he was forced to only be able to practice on a jump shot.

im just saying he should mix it up, it will also make it that much harder to defend him. he has been improving ever since he got into the league but how much more can you improve on brute strength. he needs that shot. can you imagine when they leave Dwight alone on the top of the key with the ball he drobbles once pulls up and drains it then on the next possesion he gets the ball down low and facializes his defender he would be even more unstoppable.

Dwight needs to work on his double teaming, hit FT shooting and his ability let the game come to him, dont be so eager to spin to the basket off the pass, sometimes you have to wait until you can brutalize...

Dwight not getting the calls is a compliment to Dwight's size, and as much as I hate flopper's and flopping, Dwight needs to step up his game against these guys. It's his job to know that these certain guys are going to deck when he pushes back. In my experience the best thing to do is to fake the drop back, position the pivot and come around the defenders weak side, and while there biting on the fake contact, you're dunking over them and they look like epileptics...
