Espn reported that NJ will buyout Stackhouse allowing him to be a free agent. . . Any chance The Magic could convince him to sign?

Maybe it's wishful thinking...

It's already a lock for him to re-sign with the MAVS according to CBS sportsline.

i was timing it to see how long it would be before someone posted the Stackhouse thread...just under 20 minutes, not too bad...

um, yes I would sign him, will he sign with us? no, he will go back to Dallas in 30 days, which will help their depth out, big time...considering that he's injured right now, it's no big deal, it will give him time to rest and get ready to prep them for the playoffs..

we're not championship bound this year, not saying that Dallas is, but they are probably closer than us and that is what he wants, he has specifically stated so...

even if we did sign him, he'd only take a one year and he'd be gone next year...

meh...

Per ESPN:
The Nets are expected to buy out Stackhouse's contract immediately, which could enable him to re-sign with Dallas if he waits 30 days, and ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard reports that the Nets and the Mavs are likewise poised to complete a separate trade that will send swingman Antoine Wright to Dallas for a future second-round pick.

I'm with you guys, I'd sign him right now and he would be a great upgrade to our SG position. But like you said, it's a lock that he's going back to the Mavs. :(

It's almost kind of a joke that a guy can be traded from a team, bought out by another, and then resign with the original team in the same season.

What's to stop Cuban from investing in whatever one of the Nets' owners runs or whatever in the amount of Stackhouse's buyout?

Not sayng that happened at all, but the only useful people they traded was Harris whom they significantly upgraded, and Stackhouse who they're now going to get back at a significantly reduced price most likely.

Yes I agree i dont like the idea that a guy can be traded, waived, and be able to resign with the original team he was traded for one month later. They should change it to where the waived player cant sign with that original team again until the offseason.

Stackhouse is one of my least favorite players in the league. I'd be pretty pissed if he ended up here.

Stackhouse would be an upgrade. Not a huge one but an upgrade nonetheless.

stack at the 2 would be great but i see him going back to dallas making them a serious contender in the est, again...looks like the west is getting all the power back that they lost when shaq went to south beach...funny how when he goes back the power shifts
