Leaving the team "as is"

I think this is the first time I am saying this, but I really hope we don't make any sudden moves at least before the deadline. Frankly out of the players whose name are around the block I would only want a few guys.

Namely:
Mike Miller
Corey Maggette
Andre Miller (heard a rumor he is on the trading block, dunno how true it is)
Jermain O'Neil (same as above)

There are only a few guys I wouldn't mind getting rid off arroyo, JJ, garity... I just don't think we can secure a decent player for our crap. Waiting we can see how well this team does in the play offs mainly if we get to the 2nd round lets say. The value of our guys would go up and we can secure some more fire power. What do u guys think?

Im for getting Andre miller, a PF or just leaving the team as is until next season

Why would we want Maggette or O'Neal? Both are too injury-prone and not even THAT good...

Add Haslem or Thomas to the list & remove Jermaine. He can't stay healthy & is too much of a gamble.

I'm all for keeping Dwight/Hedo/Shard together

but if we can upgrade, I'm still for it. We're not going to contend with this current group. We have expiring deals and we need to make them work. Now, we don't need to make the desperation moves that they're making in the West, but a move would be a good thing. We need some PF's that play like PF's.

I wouldn't write off our crap. I'm sure nobody thought the Lakers would get an all star PF/C for scraps.

Right now, I'd only make small moves to potentially improve the team, but I'd leave that core [the 3] intact.

While all these absolutely blockbuster trades going on around us seems like we're sat doing nothing, but Otis has already done something that has ended up helping us. I wouldnt say no to certain trades, but as I say constantly at this time of year, the last thing you want to do is trade for the sake of trading.

If the right deal came up, to get the right pieces without damaging that core that right now is taking us to our division title and a good playoff seeding [as it stands, fingers crossed]; then I'd be all for it.

I'm with you on that I don't want to make a trade for the sake of making a trade and I am also only willing to give up those three add Bogans, auggie, gortat and the rights to fran but as well that is our crap

I really want to resign Evans and Dooling

as jam said, add haslem, and Kurt Thomas and remove jermaine

I would also not mind having Joe Smith or even a guy like Eduardo Najera

if otis makes a trade, it will probably be these players, arroyo, garrity, jj, bogans, auggie, gortat, fran...

I certainly hope we do not do a move just to look busy. If we can use our expirings to improve our team for now and the future I am all for it, if not, I can roll with what we have now. Battie will be back soon, Fran may be over next year, we still have a 1st rounder and the MLE. We can get a lot better.

Agreed.

This team needs too much help to go crazy now, but it'd sure be tempting especially as bad and vulnerable as the East is.

Well, I don't see it the same as most here. A lot complain about the guard play, and I can understand that. But I feel a bigger issue is the lack of rebounding aside from Dwight. We'd be a lot better if we could bring in a guy who will grab rebounds on both ends.

Convince me. Since when do we utilize our first round picks (leaving aside Dwight). This years pick should be 15-25. And name me five FA next year that we can get with the MLE that are going to significantly improve this team. Remember, if we dont extend Dooling this year or Arroyo this year we will most certainly be in the market for a back up PG and that will in itself eat a large portion of the MLE. If we let our "expirings" expire they are gone and do not give us any cap relief.

I say try and get another team a player with our expirings and then deal with them for example ..... maybe get Curry to Miami with our expirings and get Haslem + filler in return.

You can scratch Mike Miller off the list. The Heat are trying hard to get him to go with Wade and Marion. The rumor right now is Williams and Davis's expirings ($15 million) for Lowry, Miller, and brian Cardinal's terrible contract. I don't think we can beat that deal without gutting our team.

Jo is still great defensively, and I think he is only injured because the pacers want him to be. If he wasn't so costly, I would love to have him in Orlando.

Andre Miller is rumored to be on our radar for expirings and JJ, but the Sixers are showing signs of wanting to keep him until this summer since they are in contention for the 8 spot right now.

A player that woudl fit in great with Orlando since he is gettign squeezed out of his current position is Haslem. The problem is taht Pat Riley doesn't want to trade him to a team in the division (smart).

The rest of those guys, we don't need.

By sheer fact that Dwight will be a year older and Rashard will have a year playing with Dwight, Hedo, and Jameer I think we will be better. IMO we don't an overhaul, just a tweek. Kyle Weaver as the 1st rounder, Fran comes over, Battie back healthy...whoever as the MLE. That team is already loads better.

We need another big period, when Foyle is our 2nd best big it doesnt bode well.

I kind of agree but, for example, when we play Boston or teams like Boston it's actually better if we play small because, if we go big they bring in big baby and he would guard Howard and Garnet would guard the big or Tony. That is not a better match up for us. If we go small with Lewis, they have to match us and they can not start big baby and we have the advantage. It's like that with alot of teams. It's also completely opposite with other teams, but right now we are winning and we probally won't improve our standings, so if Tony is back by the playoffs. Then we can match up as needed when the time comes and we don't really need to add a big unless it's a quality player that does'nt hurt our future. We do have some players to move but if we can't get what we want then we should probally just stand pat. It's my opinion that we probally won't make a trade this year, unless something special come along.

You can't always count on a year of experience making you better. Look at the Bulls. They had a young team and kept telling themselves that they were building for the future. They get a steal of a draft pick this year with Jo Noah, and that should push them over the top. Right? Right?

the way i see it is we've got Arroyo + Garrity who are both as good as gone this offseason.

the team will have to decide between Mo Eva and Bogans, because they can't keep both, one will have to be upgraded for a legit starting quality SG.

Dooling may be gone if he thinks there's a better role somewhere else for him (perhaps Miami again?)

that's basically 3-4 players who could leave, and leave us with nothing to replace them. and if they don't leave it's even worse, because it means the team isn't making any major steps towards improvement - because let's all be honest, Garrity doesn't play, Arroyo should be upgraded, SG should be upgraded.

so i want to see a deal now to make sure that we can get value for these guys, especially considering that they're expirings and potentially could return us someone like Mike Miller or Andre Miller.

i'm not implying we should trade them all, but at least some of them. pref Arroyo + Garrity.

as for what we need - PF is the most pressing need right now. our backcourt will do fine if we play small. Our front court doesn't allow us to play big at the moment. that'll hurt in the playoffs.
