The Superman Dunk was not a dunk.

He threw the ball at the rim. He should of attempted the dunk one more time imo. I loved the creativity and the jump height but that was not a dunk, it was a lay in.

Touching the rim is not a requirement for dunking.

Than I guess I can dunk then. What if everyone else started throwing the ball through the rim?

They would be dunks, provided the ball was above the rim when they threw it.

Can you get the ball above the rim while still holding onto it?

And proceed to throw it downward into the basket?

If so, yes you can dunk because thats what a dunk is.

The Superman Dunk WAS a dunk and it was a great dunk :D (this, coming from a raptors fan)

Common misconception. I've actually seen the dunk now called a "layup from above the rim".

As various posters have proven, the definition of dunk has no where to be found the sipulation that the hand must touch the rim.

You're a homer. He should have done it again and grabbed the rim.

I mean i feel u madmagician, i was a little disapointed that he didn't actually grab the rim. But the creativity of the dunk and the showmanship, it actually looked more dominant that he threw it down. I still wanted to see him do the kiss the rim dunk
Whether you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T, you're right.

Show me where he has to grab the rim for it to be considered a dunk. If Dwight jumps from closer in and grabs the rim then the dunk would lose a lot of its' allure. The guy flew off 2 feet from near the FT line and hurled the ball down through the rim and you're on here bitching about how he should have grabbed the rim. GTFO.

He wasn't trying to touch the rim. Superman wouldn't touch the rim. He was high enough that had he wanted too, he could have. But that wouldn't have been dramatic as throwing it through.

Why don't you GTFO you ass. He should have done it from a foot closer because when you jump that high, it don't matter.

Considering the fact that they had officials replaying the dunks & even the TNT guys slowed it down & watched and no one said it wasn't a dunk. I think I'd go with the opinions of the guys who actually can play ball & those who can dunk rather than a homer watching it on TV.

GO DWIGHT!
