Jason Kidd is officially a Dallas Maverick.

"It's done," Mavericks owner Mark Cuban told ESPN.com via e-mail. "J-Kidd is a Mav."

The last proposed version of the deal that had been swirling for about a week had Kidd and New Jersey Nets teammate Malik Allen going to Dallas for 24-year-old point guard Devin Harris, center DeSagana Diop, swingman Trenton Hassell, guard Maurice Ager, Keith Van Horn via sign-and-trade, first-round picks this June and in 2010 and $3 million in cash.

At least we won't have to see Kidd anymore this year, unless we meet them in the Finals.

To make a huge trade like that and still not move up in the rankings must be disappointing.

Jason Kidd may propel the Mavs past the Spurs, but the Suns and Lakers will still be better.

Agree 100%. The Mavs should have accepted the fact that the West is insanely loaded this year and developed the young talent they gave away in the trade. Kidd is not going to win them a title in the next two years, and after that, the window closes. They won't even get out of the West, let alone beat Boston or Detroit in the Finals.

I don't think this gets the Mav's over the top.

Good for Kidd getting outta NJ, but the Mavs need more than just this imo.

What would you give away for TJ Ford?

Arroyo, Nelson, Redick or one of them + expirings, but Hedo/Shard/Dwight are untouchable. No matter the injuries, TJ Ford is still able to average 10 assists per game and that's ok in my book.

You have to be blind to think we need a PG before we need a big man.
