OT: Ariza behind schedule on recovery

From the LA Times: http://www.latimes.com/sports/basketbal ... &cset=true

Trevor Ariza is still about eight weeks from returning from a broken bone in his right foot. Ariza's original timetable called for a return to health four weeks from now, but his foot was "healing more slowly than we hoped," a team official said Monday.

I know that Otis got skewered for this deal, but I thought I remember reading somewhere that the foot was going to be an injury concern that the Magic didn't want to deal with, & the Lakers were willing to take the risk to get out from Cook's contract. Interesting turn of events I'd say considering the contributions the players have made to their respective teams since then.

Hopefully he makes a recovery and doesn't have a similar injury again.

... So it wasn't just because "Ariza couldn't shoot the '3'"... Shocking

Otis didn't get skewered by this deal. At least not in the minds of the media or general NBA fans.

It was just a bunch of Magic fans overreacting as usual and fearing that "omg we got raped".

Per usual.

Lakers got robbed on this deal. And everyone thought we got raped. Evans and Cook are legit.

It looks like those of us who liked the trade are owning the people who disliked the trade. I have all way's thought Trevor was over rated by this board, and with the way Mo Evans is playing we should be very happy with this trade.

It's likely that the opinions on that trade will change like the wind down the road too.

Because a player got injured? Jiminy you guys are foolish. What kind of dumb analysis states that a player getting injured for a few months after a trade makes the trade a steal?

So if we manage to pull of a trade of our expirings and garbage and get Miller and he gets injured and is out for some weeks they owned us in the trade right?

Rumors of Ariza's structural problems were never ever confirmed and the Laker's most certainly did not take a chance since it was never confirmed. Stop hoping he's permanently damaged so you can claim some upper hand. Wishing the worse on a player is always VERY poor form. SO far no one has said he won't return to full health.

Laker fans were right. they said Evans was Okay and that cook was a player that showed up for a few games at a time. Bingo on the money. They love Ariza over there and he's been very productive for them. Hope all is well for Ariza. I'm not the kind of idiot fan wishing the worse and getting all excited over an injury of a former magic player just because he was traded.

The chance the Lakers took was on a player with an expiring contract. The proof in the Laker's faith in Ariza will come in the form of a new contract in the offseason. That will speak volumes about whether they feel the foot problems are chronic or not. II for one was neither against nor for the trade. Seemed like a trade of spare parts to me. I don't think either team got "steals" in the trade.

No that was'nt the only reason, read my post. The other reason was because Mo Evans is palying so well. You just hate to be wrong. I knew your ass would fly in here to argue as soon as you saw my post, because you would never admit you were wrong about something, but the Magic won this trade and it's not even close.

I'm wrong quite a bit. I was wrong when I said that Stan should not have called out Dwight. I gather now that he knew Dwight enough to do it. SO your attempt at psychology is also blown.

Of course you will claim its not even close. Simply because Ariza is injured. Before that Ariza was doing very well in LA providing EXACTLY what they wanted him to do. All his stats moved up and he was more important to them than Mo will ever be for us Mo is alright among a bunch of weak guards. Absolutely nothing spectacular.

Ariza is a much better defender and thats what they wanted. Has far more upside as well unlike Mo who is now what he will be. SO comparing what both got Ariza is a better player for them than Mo is for us.

Of course you can claim that a player playing now is better than a player injured but its a silly point and the only reason you can make your claims.

You and others knew exactly why you were posting that nonsense in a thread about his injury. Captain Obvious.

No, I did'nt need Ariza to be injured to know we won this trade. I have all way's said Ariza was the most over rated player in Magic history. Our coach would'nt play him because Ariza could'nt throw the ball in the ocean. Mo is starting and while that is not a great feet agianst our guards, his defense has been good. He is playing very well for us and I think your Ariza goggles are blinding you from what Mo is giving us, and SVG agrees because Trevor could'nt even play much less start on our team. The fact is my post never said anything about Trveors injurey, and if you look at history I have said Trevor was over rated after I had a chance to watch him play the same year we traded for him. I believed he had potential but there were people on this board who were just in love with the guy purely on potential and it got on my nerves because he has never done anything and he can't shoot the ball. The title of this thread suggested Trevor had injurey problems but my issue has never been his history odf injurey problems. I have all way's thought he was over rated and I like the trade the second we did it. I never wished or was happy about injurey to Trevor Ariza.

Your post didn't need to say anything about the injury. Its the title of the thread and was written as back up to what others were saying who specifically were talking about the injury as an indication of how we robbed the Lakers. Even your nonsense about me being proven wrong indicates this. Wheres the proof? that he was injured?

Saying that Mo is playing well for us means nothing if you don't look at how well Ariza was playing for them. Of course because he's injured its easier to sidestep that and claim something is now proven while he's injured but Ariza was playing lots of minutes for them and also started so without him being injured you have no proof whatsoever

Silly. Silly point.
