Carlos and the Ninja NY-bound?

Post#1 » by aleZ » Thu Feb 21, 2008 9:07 am

According to the NY Post, so you know it's 90% bull

A league source told The Post the Knicks and Orlando discussed trades in recent days involving their two backup point guards, Carlos Arroyo and Keyon Dooling, but were in a stalemate. Arroyo is a prototype European passing point guard, a 28-year-old from Puerto Rico who has been in and out of the Magic's rotation.

LOL @ bolded part, this guy has never watched either Carlos or Euroball in his entire life.

Any word on who we could get for them? Is there anyone worth getting for them that wouldn't be a burden salary wise? The only person that I can think of that I would be wanting to get is David Lee, but he won't be traded for those 2 at all. Maybe if we throw in a draft pick and take a bad contract we could get to talking. He would be a perfect fit here, but since he is one of the least likely to be traded players on the Knicks roster I'm not gonna get my hopes up or anything.

Who would we even be interested in.....Other than Balkman and Lee, no one on their team fills a hole here, and neither of those guys would be traded for expirings, no matter how stupid isiah might be.

Surely not Malik Rose? Just because he's a veteran big man with championship experience doesn't mean he's any good.

Randolph Morris is on that roster, but....lol.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

WTF?

I dont want any of their big men, except Lee. Randolph is a black hole who plays no D. Balkman = Ariza Jr. Jerome James = Fatass, Curry intrigues me but he doesnt play D either and we'd prolly be worse.

What about a three way trade with NY and Sacramento?

Magic trade
Garrity
Augustine
Bogans
Arroyo

Magic receive
Lee
Balkman
Rose

NY trade
Lee
Balkman
Rose

NY receive
Arroyo
Artest

Sacramento trade
Artest

Sacramento receive
Garrity
Augustine
Bogans

In this trade we get a good young PF in Lee and a defensive SG/SF who can replace Bogans (without the three). In order for that we need to take Rose and his contract.

NY gets his PG in Arroyo and Artest and get rid of Rose' contract.

Sacramento gets his expiring contracts to rebuild.

Lee would be near my ideal trade, full stop.

Balkman wouldnt be that bad, but I'd be disappointed to lose Dooling and add another SF to the squad though [but clears up space for Redick]

1 thing; we lose BOTH our back up PG's.

We trade Garrity, Arroyo, Bogans and Augustine

No Dooling

lee. that's all i want from them...possibly fred jones if we can get him early enough to ship him to sacramento in a deal for miller...that would be a deep 4/5 combo with howard and foyle at 5 and miller and le at 4
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

The NYKs are not trading Lee. He is probably the most untradable player on that roster!

David Lee sucks defensively. Just because a guy plays with heart and energy doesn't mean he can guard anyone. Give us Crawford or Randolph please.

he's probably never looked at a world map before either. Puerto Rico isn't exactly part of Europe, or any European League.

i wonder if Yao Ming is considered a prototype European centre too?

what if we somehow got David Lee? does that mean we would then have 2 David Lee's? furthermore does that mean that the galaxy would implode?

I'd rather not make any moves at all than send our expirings to the Knicks for anyone besides Lee/Balkman. Trading for anyone else on NY's roster would only mean we are bailing them out of a crappy contract.

if we do trade anyone to NY, than you know for a fact that our management hates/hated that player...and sending a few guys up there i doubt highly would help the Knicks out too awful much...unless we took on Jerome James/Randolph/Crawford all in the same deal...

A Crawford/Lee package seems to fit our needs. Thats the only move with the Knicks that I would support anyway.

lol at the bolded part.

If there is a deal on the table involving Arroyo and Dooling, I would bet that it's for one of their guards/M. Rose. Any of their guards/M. Rose that add up to the amount of the expiring contracts of Arroyo and Dooling make enough that a swap would help the Knicks a lot. It wouldn't be like unloading Randolph or Marbury, but it would still be quite a bit considering the players involved.
