New Article: "Trade In the Works?"

We're really being spoilt here on the Magic boards with a second article in as many days, this time from our resident Commish, Howard Mass.
Without stepping on the articles toes, Howard deals with the popular trade rumours we are seeing right now, from the potential Seattle workings, possibilities of dealings with Miami and what it would cost the team and also a couple of other rumours and what the most likely outcome and players involved would be.
It wouldnt be a Howard Mass article without something we can really sink our teeth into, and we all know his "passion" with the FSN and TV network disputes in the past; so Howard does a great job of keeping us abreast of the current situation with FSN and the Magic.
Ofcourse, you can find the article

Well done.
I agree the Magic won't do any major moves since they need to part with some key players to do that. My guess is Redick's out the door by tomorrow cuz he looks like he'd even play for a rebuilding team as long as he finally gets some PT.

If something is right for this team, Otis is going to do. If not, he will stand pat. It

Nice recap Howard. I agree with you that Haslem was never really an option given our history with them. Also, good point about trades being announced after the deadline, that happens a lot. Just the paperwork needs to be in by 3pm, not the announcement.

Scott (Orlando, FL): Are the Magic afraid to pull the trigger? They should have gotten Kurt Thomas (as they had expiring contracts and a better 1st rounder than SA). It wouldn't have cost them anything long term as Thomas is in the final year as well.
Chad Ford: (1:52 PM ET ) They were in the hunt for Thomas. I think they had a better first rounder to give the Sonics. The cynical view is that Sam Presti helped out the Spurs out of loyalty. I don't think the Magic can make a big deal because they seem very reluctant to part with either Turkoglu or Redick

Man, it would be sweet if this board had someone like the PHI board has in Sixerfan1976. They pretty much know everything that is going to happen before it happens with their team.

Sixerfan1976 for MagicConfid straight up, now that's a trade I'd love to see happen

I thought there would be a small deal but it wasn't meant to be.

It was a good thought, Howard.
Now Otis is going to take a lot of Heat for allowing the contracts of Garrity, and one of the guards to expire and getting nothing back because there are a few holes on the roster that still will be there at the end of the season and not much money to fill them with. I don't know what kind of deals he had on the table, but a whole lot of people seem to think he had at least 10 good options that he rejected because he didn't want to spend the money. I have no idea, but that's what a lot of other people seem to think and are writing about endlessly.

Thanks to all for reading it.
Alez's piece will be stickied a few more days.
