I just want everyones thoughts on this stuff i read on the espn rumor mill...
Extending Smith
The Magic will talk about extending Otis Smith's contract this offseason.
"It hasn't been talked about by either of us, but it is something we will address in the offseason with Otis," Magic COO Alex Martins said. -- Orlando Sentinel

Jamaal Magloire | Nets
The Magic still may feel the need to add another frontcourt power player before the playoffs --- they flirted with the prospect before the trade deadline --- but one guy it won't be is Jamaal Magliore, the C/F recently waived by the New Jersey Nets.
"Nope. No thanks," Magic GM Otis Smith said. -- Orlando Sentinel

I figured Otis would feel that way about Magliore...as for the extension...no use in commenting, he'll get eaten up in this thread...

Not quite. At least fool's gold looks like it is worth something...

it just depends on a bunch of things, he proved himself by making the mo and cookie trade, he disappointed a lot (but probably did the right thing) by not making a trade on the deadline, its gonna come down to what happens in the off season, who we resign, who we pick up, who we draft, and how we do in the playoffs. I'm confident he knows what he's doing and will get an extension but i know a lot of people on this board will disagree..
as far as maglore he really isnt worth it he'll be like a older kwame brown.

Kwame Brown has one thing that Magliore hasn't had for a long time, and that's presence...

Magloir's vertical is like 1 inch. I like Otis, but I don't give him full credit for this team because alot of these guys are Weisbrod guy's and some of the moves Weisbrod made, made it possable to do some of the things we are doing now. The jury is still out on Otis in my opinion. I like the Reshard signing and I don't care how much money they gave him. I bet Houston would have given him the same kind of money.

Don't forget some of the some of the Weis moves (Dwight for example) were made due to Otis/Twardz.

I know people say that, but none of us really know how much input any of those guy's had. Ultimately Weisbrod made the final decision so I don't give Otis any credit until someone comes out and say's Otis was the main guy pushing those moves and Weisbrod listened.
On a side not Hec. I got this corel paint shop pro, and it works really good. I like the cloning feature the best.

Sun Sports (think it was Sunshine at the time) had a special a few years back called, iirc, "Behind the Lights". This showed a good amount of the process in choosing between Dwight and Emaka.
It showed some of the workouts. They were really impressed with Emaka, who come in first, and not just physically but the also because of his personality. They were for the most part set on him at that point.
But when Dwight came in for the workout, he really impressed them.
Weis said on the show that he wanted Otis/Twardz to convince him to pick Dwight over Emaka. iirc, it was mostly Otis that did the convincing...
So while the ultimate decision was Weis, it was largely because of Otis/Twardz that we selected Dwight with our pick.

richboy and maginno would disagree, we should have a roster of
xxxx/xxxx
xxxx/xxxx
xx/xxxxx/x
xxx/xxx/xx
Dwight Howard/xxxx/xxx
and we should be 57-1....
being a GM is not rocket science, all you have to do is follow the instructions, think outside the box, have your copy of NBA Live 08 close and talk to message board geeks...

I'm taking this as a personal insult.
