In Hindsight, Should we have kept stevenson?

This isnt a bashing thread at all i completely agreed with the decision at the time, and now it's simply debateable. But looking back do you think we shouldve spent more to keep stevenson? The first year I thought bogans did an admiral job to replace him, but now it seems Stevenson has become a really solid sg. Keep in mind, arenas is injured with helps his stats.

So now looking back, should we have kept him for the money he wanted?

DeShawn Stevenson has reached an agreement in principle with the Wizards on a four-year, $15 million contract. The move comes following a season in which he played at the league minimum after rejecting a three-year, $10 million contract with the Orlando Magic.

bogans got 8mill over 3 years

i cannot remember exactly what stevenson wanted from orlando, but i believe it was about 5 mill per year...

Kebo makes about 95% of his lay-ups to the basket, DeShawn made like 5 when he was here.

Of course he's going to be playing better in Washington when they need him to step up offensively. Kebo could average DeShawn's numbers.

Why, because he had 33 tonight (on the first day I face him in my fantasy league, grrrr)? DS would add nothing to our team except a mediocre two-guard, and we're flush with those.

He is shooting a low %, but his better than 2:1 Asst/TO ratio stands out. His 3 point shooting is very solid, and he takes them in volume too.

I don't think it really makes much of a diffence overall, but yea, I wouldn't have minded if we kept him.

He covered for a lot of Jameer's deficiencies better than Bogans now.

I don't know if he would have become the shooter like he is now w/o the resentment he probably had towards the Magic. He wouldn't have felt the need to improve his game.

I think its freakin HILLARIOUS he got essentially the same money he walked out on if you divide it by the per year. Sure its a year longer, but thats some humble pie, no??

Stevenson > Bogans. Always has been, always will be. He was a very good midrange shooter when he was with us (probably from 3 too, but Brian wouldn't let him shoot it). His trouble with layups were overstated. He could break down a defense by slashing to the basket. Something Bogans could never do. I'd say he was also a better defender and passer. He just asked for too much money.

I dont think anyone can honestly say they think that Bogans is better than Stevenson.

Neither of them are great, but stevenson is better and has a higher ceiling.

It was a bad move to not keep him.. His defense was better than Bogans, he had speed and great slashing abilities...people say he couldnt finish at the rim, But I still dont agree witht that.. I feel he was actually a good finisher and tried to take it hard every time.

I can agree with that. Both Stevenson and Bogans are mediocre and are no better than one another in their own ways.

I'll call on that one. I actually think Bogans can be the better player. Certainly a smarter one. Plus, Bogans seems like a good guy, not so with Deshawn Stevenson. Paper Boy said it best, we wouldn't be any better or worse with him, as both he and Bogans are on the same level....mediocrity 2 guard.

Stevenson is better by leaps and bounds. Much better defender, better passer, better shooter more athletic. Under any circumstances, would Bogans have been taking that shot last night?

DS is a far better player today than he was then...he has developed a lot...i liked him them, while frustrating, still a good guy, and i like him more now...i'm glad he's doing well and fitting in...i'd have him here if we could...but hopefully we're moving in a stronger direction...

You always talk about DS like he's the same player of '06 max. He's not, he's improved his finishing, three point shooting and passing since his last season with the Magic. While Bogans has stayed pretty much the same.

DeShawn is hardly starting material, but lately he is showing a shooting touch few had predicted some years ago, especially from deep and in tight situations.

No news here since I've always been a Stevenson fan, and yes I think he'd help a little bit more than Mo (or at least give the same effort having both of them).

You sir to no fault of your own would be incorrect on that one. DeShawn is a far better in house locker room guy and teammate than Bogans. Bogans has never been too well thought of by many of his teamates current and past outside of his best buddy Drew Gooden, and that is likely only cause they share lets just call it similar off the court interests.

I liked DS a lot and thought he was underrated by many posters.

That said, his contract demands were way out of line with his value.

But we've got Evans now who, to me, fits just as a well as DeShawn did here. Hopefully we re-up his contract.
