What are the rules concerning Chris Duhon. Could he be bought out or waived and the Bulls receive cash considerations? I understand the trade deadline is over, but I wanted to know that actual rules. It seems like some players still move around via the waiver wire post trade deadline.

To to OP, he can be bought out, but the Magic cannot offer Chicago anything in return. Perhaps if Duhon knows that the Magic are ready to make him a new offer, he'd accept a smaller buyout with the Bulls.

i think the Bulls will hang on to him regardless, even if he's rotting on the bench, in case he does sign with a team that they might be fighting against for a playoff spot.
he's a guy i'd love to see the Magic pick up this offseason for the LLE if we're lucky enough. he'd be a great replacement for Arroyo on the cheap.

I would be surprised if Duhon exits Chicago.

the fact that they refused to give him up in that 3 way might be indication that he is sticking around...

1. duhon would be the dukie that might actually work for the magic.

As long as he doesn't shoot the ball, I'd take him in a heartbeat.
But like thief said, Chicago tried and succeeded in not having him involved in any trades so I can't see him being bought out.

they hate him over in chicago. I don't know if he's the answer. I know neither is great defensively, but calderon and navarro could help this team imo.

I don't see him staying. The only way is if the Bulls get blown away on a Hinrich deal, but I doubt that happens. He could go as high as the mle if there is a bidding war, but he'll get at least half of it imo. We should have drafted him when we had the chance. Sometimes you think they would do better if they threw darts at a board.

That's not really true. I'm glad Duhon is still a Bull.
There are Bulls posters who bad-mouth almost everyone on the team. That happens when you have a large Forum. Those who disagree are not going to waste time arguing all the time.
Duhon is the best passer on the Bulls & he WILL be in the NBA a long time. He plays good D & respectable O. In his rookie season, the Bulls were 0-9 & Skiles started Duhon at PG & moved Hinrich to SG. The Bulls went on to win 49 games, with Duhon starting every one.
Now the Bulls have a glut at guard and it is undetermined if the Bulls will re-sign him next season. They do not have matching rights. He is the only true PG on the Bulls.

Well if he's on our team, that's one less Magic Killer we'd have to worry about.
Seriously though, you'll have to ask me this question again in the offseason when we have a better grasp on who we're keeping and going after.

yeah, half the MLE sounds about right. plus, he'll probably be looking for garunteed minutes. i wouldn't be surprised to see him go to Portland actually.
and since Otis has commited money to Nelson, i can't see him paying a decent clip for Duhon to play backup (although he's more of a starter in my opinion).
Duhon's most likely the cheapest and value for money backcourt option out there. i wonder if the Bulls would do a JJ + our 1st rounder for their 1st rounder + Duhon S&T?
