Solid, solid player if he's healthy. Or at least he used to be.

with Detroit picking up Ratliff and Boston getting PJ Brown and Cassell - they were the only remaining top tier teams that hadn't made a move to improve - now that they have made a move - every top tier team has made a move to get better, except .....
Otis - I like my team. Of all those teams who would have had one of the easiest chances to make an improvement? A team with $14m in expiring contracts.
We are just one step below ... Dwight is awesome, but we are going to have a lot of trouble competing with the top tier without a real PF - they will out rebound us and over power us - not Dwight, but we only have one of him.

So Boston gets Cassel and PJ
Detroit gets Ratliff and Dale Davis
Dallas gets Magloire
And we sit around and do nothing when we are the team that needs a big the most.
Ratliff and Davis are just two extra guys to defend and irratate Dwight.
This is getting worse and worse.

man, It would be excellent if the Magic could pickup one of these guys getting dropped...an extra capable body would be real nice here...someone needs to get Denton to ask Otis if he's going to or is looking to or even considering it...

someone needs to ask SVG if he'll play another big body if we add one.
that's not an attack on SVG, but he seems very selective with his lineups.
Chris Anderson's still out there, and he can get us some rebounds at least. is Danny Fortson still a FA??? as much as Otis doesn't like a 'quick fix', the fact that something needs 'fixing', implies that something needs to be done.

Anderson would be a major upgrade...but NO will get him...

Boston got better with Cassell, and Brown even though when they are up agianst our first team they will still have to play small to match up because none of thier second tier bigs can guard Lewis.
I don't see how this signing of Ratliff helps Detroit agianst us because they all ready have the bigs to match us, and they don't have the minutes to give all of them. Like I said they were all ready stacked agianst us in that category. It does help them by keeping him from signing with us and in that case Brown as well. Let's face it, other than a blockbuster for us we were not contending for a championship this year any way. We are a long shot even if we picked up a good player. We are too young and in expeirienced right now ,and I have watched enough of this league to know that is just the kind of respect we would get from the league and the officials. It's not our time yet. We are a couple years away from contending.

There no such thing as being too young. You can contend at any age if you have the talent. This team doesn't have the talent. The only young player I think your referring is Dwight. The rest of this roster is not all that young.

Ratliff when healthy can help the Pistons out very well on the defensive end with his rebounding and shot blocking. With his history of consistant injuries. I'm not as confident to say he will be the effective answer for the Pistons down in the post due to his injuries keeping him off the floor. I could be wrong, but it's just my opinion.

Yeah cos I am sure Brown would have chosen us over Boston.

Detroit signed Ratliff instead of Dale Davis. DD is still availble to the first team that asks him.
Ratliff will be the 5th big in the Pistons rotation (when used) and basically used as insurance in the playoffs at a cheap price. One of Dixon/Herrmann will become inactive when Ratliff is used.
C. Billups/R. Stuckey/L. Hunter*
R. Hamilton/A. Afflalo/J. Dixon
T. Prince/J. Hayes/W. Herrmann
A. McDyess/J. Maxiell/A. Johnson
R. Wallace/T. Ratliff*/C. Samb**
* Inactive at the moment
** NBDL
