Brighthouse again...

Anyone else have this little problem?

I've had NBA TV for ages. At my old house on a different account, and now here at my current house, for at least 3 years.
No league pass, just simple NBATV, see some old classic games and stuff; the Daily and the fantasy show.

Did I miss some memo?
I haven't been active aroudn here, so maybe someone already mentioned it.

But now...
No NBATV, says I need to order it.

Brian,

They put it on a digital sports pack for $1.99 a month. I has been this way for a couple of years now.

It looks like there is a free three month preview though.

I also believe MLB TV will be on this pack in January 2009.

I don't see why after having it for, oh, I'd say at least 4 years now. Free. They'd now take it away.
Pretty good way to treat a customer on the borderline of switching to DirectTV if you ask me.

I think they had been giving it to DVR subscribers for free. My guess is they must have pulled the plug on that.

Eh I dunno, I used to have NBAtv for free way before I had DVR. It was probably just an error that they noticed.
But till, do you fix that minor error which doesn't cost them a thing, when they can kust look at my file and notice service complaint after complaint after complaint. And also see that I have the HD package, the HBO/Sho package, internet and on and on; and that I spend more on cable than I do electric?
Kind of a risky move, I would think, to risk losing a customer that sends you 200$ a month in an attempt to maybe get an extra 2$ a month.

To be honest, DirecTV owns cable in every category (has FSN/bit cheaper/better customer service/etc.). I made the switch and I dont regret it one bit, I advise everyone to do the same actually.

There are people who cant switch to Direct TV or Dish because Brighthouse has a monopoly where they live, but i heard for example that if you live in apartment complex that is Brighthouse only and you want to switch, you can let Direct TV know and they will send lawyers to fight it and eventually they would have to let you install Direct TV. I dont know if this is true since i heard about it but i guess its worth a shot for those who want to.

I actually like Bright House.

They have good On-Demand services, a 24-hour News station, good customer service and a pretty good channel lineup.

On the FSN situation, it is bummer but I see their point in the fact most of us only watch the Magic on both stations and now they have to pick up another high-cost sports stations so we can watch 35 more games.

If we had a second sports team in town, Bright House would probably pick it up on a basic tier but were a one town pro team.

I would like to have the station and watch the baseball and national FSN shows though.

While I am at it, I found out yesterday that the Tampa Bay Lightning have an agreement with Sun Sports that they only be shown on that channel. My assumption is they got this to keep the team on TV in this market.

If they did not have this agreement, the Magic could put all the games on SUN with a small fee hike for the addition of the games and prehaps the Lightning could be on FSN which would be similar to the agreement Sun Sports/FSN has with the Heat and Panthers down south.

Then again, if this happened, there would be no chance for an agreement unless FSN was willing to be on a digital tier which is unlikely.

On NFL Network, some have it on a sports tier but the NFL is looking to pull that. They did agree to do it with Cox though so maybe they will for Bright House.

Other major stations basic/digital they do not carry are Game Show Network, Chiller TV (only Direct TV has it for now) and TV Guide Network and Boomerang which are available On Demand.

Other than that, I am very satisfied and believe they will get agreements for the above channels eventually. They have almost all available non-HD channels which they will continue adding.

I have no intention of ever dumping Bright House.

call and complain about having it for free for 4 years. When they say there's nothing they can do, tell them you'd like to cancel. I'd be surprised if they didn't just give you the $2/month package for free just to keep you as a customer. Then if they still don't, decide whether you really want to cancel or not.
