Can Superman get back to 15 rpg?

So I did some number crunching. Right now Dwight is averaging 14.55 rpg (nba.com rounds it to 14.6).

He needs to average 16.29 rpg the rest of the season in order to get to 15 rpg. In doing so he'd be only the 2nd player in history to average 22/15 and 60% shooting (I think those were the numbers, Wilt being the only other person to do it).

So can he do it? I'm hopeful. But in all honesty unless he hones in the last 21 games like he did last night, game in and game out, he'll fall short. He averages less rpg at home (which we have more games of).

C'mon Dwight, more 20/20 games!!! :D

I don't see why not.

Realistic chance at 20 boards:

Toronto, Golden State, Miami, Indiana, Philadelphia, Milwaukee, New York, Chicago (x2), Minnesota

More difficult:

Washington (x3), Atlanta (x3), LA Clippers, Cleveland (x2), San Antonio, New Orleans

toronto: 18
washington: 16
golden state: 23
atlanta: 14
LAC: 16
miami: 15
indiana: 13
cleveland: 14
washington: 10
philadelphia: 17
atlanta: 15
san antonio: 16
milwaukee: 19
new orleans: 15
cleveland: 14
new york: 21
chicago: 16
minnesota: 19
chicago: 18
atlanta: 9
washington: 13

total: 331/21: 15.8

888 (current total through 61 games) + 331 (according to my calculations what he would have the rest of the way) = 1219 (total)/82= 14.9

i don't think he'll get it...i want him to but it'll be really hard

I think D-Flight will up his rebounding/defensive effort during this stretch run. He has a decent chance.

it's not that he "cant" do it, I am positive that he could...but I dont think he will...he has to basically be playing perfect every game from here on in...and he's been back and forth as of late...

Sorry, but I think his rebounding average will continue to fall.

15 is a great #, and is possible, but is so hard to do.

I think that shrinking minutes later on kills much hope of 15 rpg.

Superman has shown he can grab 20 rebounds back to back(I think he did it once or twice last yr), so yeah, 15 is like whatever.

He grabbed 20+ in three straight games at the end of December.

I'm actually more interested in whether he can finish his 4th NBA season with more than 4000 rebounds... ie be averaging over 1000rebs per season.

Only 14 guys in NBA history have done that through their first 4 seasons, and Buck Williams (23 years ago) is the only one to do it in the last 34 years. Dwight would also easily be the youngest to do it.

His rookie season of 'only' 823rebs put him behind the 8 ball and I've always wanted him to catch back up.

He only needs 259 more rebs (12.33 average) to make it, and I believe he would also be the youngest player in NBA history to get to 4000rebs.

But... 15rpg would also be great :P

A lot might depend on how the Magic do trying to hold off Cleveland and Toronto. I'm guessing that Van Gundy isn't going to want him to use up everything he has left in the tank to get to 15 rpg if it means he is out of gas for the start of the playoffs. And even if they do hold on to the No. 3 spot and face Washington, the Wizards are likely to get back a totally rested Arenas and a well-rested Butler from injuries.

Good point... I doubt he will make it... sure would love to see it though.
