we'd suck without Howard but hes not a big factor on the offensive end in the 3rd and 4th quarters this season, that definitely hurts his MVP stock

he's not a top candidate, he has another few seasons of maturing to do and he has some more work to on his overall game, and im not talking adding a jump shot or something like that, i'm going to write that off. I'm talking about dominating the game from end to end, ball handling, double teams, passing, working the floppers and getting his head right when it comes to calls and losing his cool...

if he could work on half of that stuff, and only improve by 10% in each area, he'd be way up there...but this year, he fell off real hard for whatever reason and he lost his mention...earlier in the season he was a top candidate...so it's not that far off...he just needs some work...

yeah, although we all know him as the foundation of our team's success, i think he's still a couple of years off, becoming more consistent and adding other features, until he gets league wide recognition for what he brings to the team.

Dwight is not in that top 4, but IMO he is in the next wave of guys and clearly top 8-10.

He is top 10 IMO. If the Magic would have kept their early pace and had around 43 wins, he would be top 3 easy.

Any list without him in the top five is a JOKE.

Before the season many of the pundits had us at best a low seed playoff team.

KG has not done anymore to justify being ahead of dwight. Bostons play is because of 3 great players not just one.

No other player in the league is putting up 22/15/2 on 60 percent shooting he gets overlooked because tools like SAS can't admit they were wrong about us and him.

Statistically, Howard with a PER rating at #10, he should not be favored to gain many votes for MVP.

LBJ is carrying Cleveland yet again. The Cavs would be a worse team without James than the Magic would be without Howard.

Add to this that Bigs don't win MVPs without record-breaking seasons, and there is really no hope this year for the 22 year old.

I don't know if I agree with that. Just think about playing one full game without Dwight, and imagine how ugly that would be. Especially since the trade, the Cavs have a couple more guys who can put the ball through the net now. The Magic don't have many other guys who can rebound. That's why Van Gundy can't leave Foyle on the floor for much more than about 5 minutes per game.

One of the reasons that I don't think Dwight would get more consideration is because ESPN and the likes of them don't give the Magic any chance of going deep in the playoffs. But I'm sure that Dwight will be thrilled to know that you all have so much confidence in him.

Also, the Magic don't have the same screen exposure of LA, Boston etc, if nobody watches Dwight, nobody's gonna vote for him. The situation's getting better but this team is still snubbed by the media more often than not.

No, just stating a fact. I think he'd be disappointed. He has been out there busting his butt for about 4 seasons now.

Logically, Lebron shouldn't be in the conversation. He's the only guy they have, and he's putting up awesome numbers, but Cleveland is number 4 in the East. Dwight's Magic are a division champion, (most likely) and He's doing things we haven't seen since Wilt. Dwight's being shorted, there is no question.

Kobe = MVP. Fair or not, better teams tend to get the awards. In 2 years when we win the East, Howard will be a serious contender for the award. For now...let's win a single playoff series!

I also think his position works against him. It's rare that a center will get the ball in the last seconds of a close game, so more opportunities to hit the game winner go to guys like Kobe, Lebron, slasher/shooter types. Shaq didn't win an MVP until his 8th season, so I think Dwight still has a ways to go.

The reason it took Shaq so long was that there were better players having better years than Shaq. This is the case with Dwight as well. Right now I think that James and Paul should be 1 and 2 with Kobe at 3. Everyone else is just trying to catch up. Lebron and CP are both having historically good seasons statistically, and both of their teasm are very competitive. If the Cavs take the 3 spot, he has a good chance of winning, and if the Hornet can make up the 2 games needed to take the west, then Chris Paul will get it. I don't think that people will vote for Kobe. In case people forgot, a healthy Pau Gasol used to win between 45 and 50 games per season with the Grizzlies. Teaming him with Lamar Odom would easily win 45 games. The Lakers will need to win 62 games for Kobe to get a realistic shot at this thing.

He should be and Lebron shouldn't be but it doesn't matter because Kobe's taking it. It's already been decided by the media.

From what i've been hearing, people aren't going to give Kobe the trophy just yet. I don't understand how you can claim that Kobe already has the award wrapped up, when it's still early in March. he isn't on the best team in the conference and his numbers aren't out of this world. At what point do voters say that a guy on a 2nd place team who isn't having an amazing year must be the MVP favorite?

we wouldn't be as bad without dwight as cleveland would be without lebron and NOH without cp3...boston would still have its 2 other all stars and would still be a playoff team...the lakers out west would not be a playoff team without kobe...you can make an argument as to why dwight isnt in there, but i really don't expect him to be in there until at LEAST next year, possibly 2 years, he needs some seasoning
