The Three point record

The last time the Magic did not make five three pointers in a regular season game was on April 17, 2007.
The Magic have currently made five three pointers in every game this season. The regular-season record extends back to last season.
With the current offense clicking, one can wonder if the Magic can go perfect in hitting five threes in every game in 2007/2008.
The poll: will the Magic go an 82 game season hitting five threes in every game?
(As an aside, in the four loses of Orlando against Detroit in last year's playoffs, in not one game did the Magic hit five threes)
(As another aside, twice in the preseason the Magic failed to hit five three pointers).

1. if the big three remain healthy, yes.
2. but the important thins is whether they will keep the streak alive in the playoffs.

Screw that record. TheGlyde hasn't picked up on it yet, but we're roughly 11 3's per game away from breaking the all-time season record.

When you shoot upwards of 30 every game, yeah.

This is one hell of a record and it's completely undiscussed amongst the media.
It'll be quite an accomplishment to make 5 every game for a whole season. This also sets a different tone than last postseason where we obviously have the sharpshooters now.

My guess is that the Magic are closer to 18 attempts a game. Just a guess.
But anyhow, if the Magic go 10/30 with the three ball, the media reports an off night shooting. That's flat wrong. 33% with the three ball is exactly equivalent to 50% with the two ball.
Keep jacking them up. All the way to a title!

It's around 24-25 per game for 3 point attempts. I haven't looked lately...
The heavy usage of 3 pt'ers is interesting though.
Pros -
1. 33 % rate equates to 50% from the floor.
2. Fewer turnovers
3. More open looks for marginal players
4. Generally better ball movement.
Cons-
1. Long rebounds from missed 3's expose defense severely
2. Fewer FT's
3. Offense does not attack the weak points of the defense
4. Fewer easy buckets
Not all are listed (I am in a hurry).
It's fun to watch during the regular season, but it
IS REALLY hard to have long playoff success with so much reliance on the 3 pointer.

One thing to note is that the Magic don't even shoot as low as 33%. They are at 38%, which is one of the best in the league. And to think they take the second most too, thats scary.

38% is really a great number.
The curiosity factor on how effective the 3 pt % stays, begins when and if the Magic get into the second round.

The Magic are attempting 24.9 3's a game. They are averaging an amazing 9.4 made 3s a game.
The Magic are fifth in the league in 3 pointer percentage!
Because of all the made three balls, the adjusted FG% for the Magic is second in the league.
