Jamison or Maggette

Post#1 » by mattyBoi » Sun Mar 16, 2008 5:10 am

Ok some people say no way that we will be able to sign one of these guys...I say its a longshot...But its possible...And i believe the Magic will try...

I consider both of these guys the final piece of the puzzle type guys...

Maggette would solidify our backcourt, allow us to let Evans or Bogans go, and would become a true "go-to" guy for us...Bring back Tony, draft a propect, resign Dooling, try and get Fran and we would be SOLID.

Jamison would be an even greater addition to the team...Move Rashard back to the 3, put Antawn at the 4...Where it helps us the most is...We will have tradable assets...

Jameer/Dooling/Rookie
Evans/Bogans
Lewis/Turkaglu
Jamison/Cook/Fran/LLE
Howard/Battie/Foyle

All of sudden either we have EXCELLENT depth or................Hedo and Battie become expendable...And I know we all love Hedo to death, but lets face it, this is a business...Some possiblities could be...

Nelson/Battie for a true PG
Nelson/Hedo for a true PG
Hedo/Battie for a true SG
Battie or Hedo alone for a SG

Not sure exactly who the SG or PG might be, but im just throwing out there.

So really i think adding one of these guys would just excellent...MLE or S&T

Im curious of what you guys think about it all...Any possiblities for trades...Odds of any of this happening?

jamison would be a bigger help because he is used to playing the 4 and is a better rebounder...imagine a starting 5 of nelson, turkoglu, lewis, jamison, and howard...that's a contender if you have guys like evans, dooling, battie, cook and bogans coming off the bench
I live rent free in your head. You know who you are :D

Not changing this sig until Magic win a championship. Started 6/26/2015.

Ahh moving Turk to the 2 stop is another option...If he could pull it off it would be that much better.

Hahaha that would possibly the tallest starting lineup in history.

jenna jamison would do wonders for this team, but in all seriousness, if we had maggette, he would play the 2.

Personally I think Hedo at the 2 is probably more suitable than Rashard at the 4, but given what we have to fill the starting SG and PF's right now over all we are better off with Rashard at the 4.

The Magic will have A LOT of PF depth next year and continue to be thin as SG. But, a starting quality PF allows Lewis to slide to his natural slot and the Magic become a conventional team.

Either proposed player makes the Magic a more deep team. A more quality team. But either proposal is a BIG question for Turkoglu's future.

Before deciding anything, I think you'll have to let the playoffs tell you what your needs are.

Conventional vs. unconventional?

The playoff success (or lack of) should establish the "want/need list".
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

How would we get those guys its impossible right now Jamison makes 16mil and Maggette makes 9 so we need about 12mil to sign these guys so it would have to be a sign and trade who would we give up Hedo? i dont think its possible i rather sign someone like pietrus who would be a SG upgrade and draft a big. if we get another person who needs a bunch of shots here it might mess up the chemistry. Rashards already not getting enough shots.

I think Maggette at the 2 would fit our team much better. Hes also younger... If we ship Turk for a true SG.. Ill take Jamison..

Jamison's the better player, but Maggette would be the better fit. I don't see the problem with having Rashard at the PF spot. As long as have some capable bangers on the bench to step in for certain matchups, we're fine. Lewis causes as many headaches, if not more, for opposing PFs than they cause for him.

Maggette would fit our team better IMO because he is a natural SG. Lewis and Hedo could still start as well.

Mike, just curious, who exactly do you think is going to pay Maggette 9 mil next year?

Jamison i will give you, and us signing him will rely on either Dwight recruiting and Antawn taking a pay cut...Or some kind of sign and trade...Also noone really knows whats going on with the Wiz

Do they want to keep Arenas for the Max?
And the BIG question...Do they want to sign a 32 year old to a big contract?
Or do they want to pick up another free agent?

Possiblities are there.

if we land Maggette we will need to work out a deal to make room for re-signing Evans as his backup, trading Bogans and or JJ as well as landing another PG...not super impossible but it would need to be very well thought out...Landing Maggette is not as impossible as it may sound...actually i foresee the major hang up being the Clippers loving him so much...

Nelson/Duhon
Maggette/Evans
Turk/Cook
Lewis/Battie/Fran
Dwight/Foyle/Gortat

And our lack of capspace and trading assets?

Return to Orlando Magic
