Is Orlando Peaking Too Early?

Much like the Rockets, Orlando is playing GREAT basketball these days, with everyone clicked and the bench contributing. I just worry Orlando is playing their basketball too early, and come playoff time, they would be destined for a drop off. How much, who knows. But it's something that could be thought as somewhat worrisome.

I don't think so. SVG's goal of 55 will keep us going full bore until the playoffs.

The Magic are building confidence, last time I checked that would be a good thing. Plus its not like they are half way thru, there are only 13 games left in the regular season. Around this time is when historically the Spurs would start "peaking". This would be the ideal time the Magic should be "peaking" and they are doing it. Im also not convinced the Magic are playing their best basketball right now. I think they are capable of playing better.

I honestly dont read half of these threads on this board anymore due to people rehashing over and over, but did SVG really set a goal of 55 wins? Or you just saying that?

the magic are a very solid team, and have been most of the year. they won 5 in a row and only 1 of them were a playoff team, we are doing what we are suppose to do, also we only got 13 games left too...I think that philly is peaking, houston might be, but they are a good team regardless...i think we are playing great and think its at a good time..for a team like us, we are not peaking to early, for a team like philly yes..i dont think they can keep up a stretch of great ball for 35 games or so..

You would figure they are peaking at just the right time. After this week, they'll have a couple more big tests (like SA & NO @ home) but after that a little rest is probably in order for the big 3, to recoup & be ready for the playoffs. The schedule really favors the Magic at this time, w/some practice/rest time in the last 2-3 weeks of the schedule, they should be the perfect combination of well-rested & prepared.

1. accurate.
2. it is the right time to peak.
3. the magic have not actually peaked yet but the gradient sure is in the right direction.

THe difference between the Rockets and the Magic?
1. We're not peaking to the degree they are.
2. We're not running on adrenaline due to us being a part of history. We're just playing well, just like they were before Yao went down.
3. Houston 'peaking' right now wouldn't even be an issue if it weren't for one (not so) subtle fact: they lost Yao Ming, without Yao they have no hope out west in the playoffs. So them peaking right now (i.e. early) is using up all of their energy which they ought to be saving for the playoffs given the difficulties they'll be having anyway. We do not have that problem, we're healthy.

Who cares? We're not the Pistons that can turn it on at any time before the playoffs. Just play well.. one loss during this stretch and we won't be "peaking" so as long as they keep winning it's fine with me.

Not at all!!! They have really been playing this way all year and the schedule is set up for us to go on a run at the end of the season...I really like it

i dont like this type of analyzation. Good teams have to learn to win consistently. After a while, once players become used to each other and really start to recognize and accept their role on their current particular team, winning becomes routine and expected. I would rather factor in fatigue, player mindset, player chemistry, coaching, opposing team, to assume if Orlando may be peaking.
Orlando won't peak for a few years. And all this worry about them playing so great now and dropping off later, Orlando is playing ok. Most of these wins have been against teams under .500 that, if we want to be mentioned with the likes of Detroit and the Celtics, we should be winning. Not taking anything away. Just facing reality. But the reality I see isn't a team peaking. What I see is a team slowly improving after learning a few valuable lessons throughout the season. We're learning to win at home. The ball movement is so fun to watch. The 3's!!! They are playing good basketball. We're still going to see them loose a game or two they should win. That's to be expected. I hope we win at least 10 in a row (half way there!!) THEN, I'm sure we won't be flying under the radar. I think the top 5 or 6 teams all have 10 or more in a row (not sure about Dallas). I'll also throw in that IF, we don't tire, stay focused, become a tight click, follow direction, play every game like it's game 7 of finals, well be fine.
