Hawks point guard Mike Bibby was smiling when he uttered the words that, to so many, might have seemed ridiculous before now.

"The Turkish Jordan," Bibby said of his former Sacramento Kings teammate Hedo Turkoglu. "That's what they call him over there. At least that's what he said they call him. He was the man over there, the first one from Turkey to play in the NBA."

Turkoglu is the man in Orlando these days, too.

Hedo is out of his mind... he was never regarded as the Turkish Jordan.

He was more of a mix between Turkish Pippen & Turkish Magic... I thought that at his best he would be able to put up 18/7/6... but never thought he would be known for his scoring ability.

If you go back one generation you will see that Kutluay might get the label of Turkish MJ... the guy scored 50 points in an Fiba game. If you go even further back Erdenay should have been the first Turkish star in the NBA. He had the best shooting touch of all time (the guy was so talented it is said he was able shoot 3's left handed) with hoops like crazy. Go back one generation & you have the world record holder for points scored in a division 1 game... Kunter with 153 points!!!

I guess too much trivial information guys  ?

Anyway nice read...

I'm glad to see him getting some well deserved recognition, but I hate the whole "Baby Jordan", "French Jordan", "Turkish Jordan" mumbo-jumbo.

Like Mike, Turk does best work when team needs him most

No offense to All-Star center and big-man extraordinaire Dwight Howard, who is having his usual monster season, but the Magic player having a breakout year is none other than the Turkish Jordan himself.

"There's no question he's been bringing it this year," said an Eastern Conference scout who has seen the Magic often this season. "Of all the guys who could have made a case for being on the All-Star team, I think his was the strongest. But you didn't hear a peep out of him about not making it. He just kept going at people night after night, taking and making big shots like nobody had seen out of him before.
