Could Larry Brown have a head coaching gig in the NBA as soon as next season?

According to the New York Daily News, the Memphis Grizzlies are targeting Brown to take over from Marc Iavaroni after a disappointing year.

Probably not going to come about .. but lol if it did.

I feel a off-season trade sending JJ to Memphis ;-)

I think memphis needs to give the coach a chance to get his own guys in there to run the system he wants. Stuff like that times time and isn't always a next day success.

I'd take Marc over Larry for sure. Larry just doesn't work good with young talent at all and that is what is in Memphis.

Milicic has been playing better of late (minus his last game).
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Iavaroni did awesome as an assistant and still might make a great head coach in the NBA someday. If he does get canned them maybe SVG will be able to talk him into coming here as an assistant.

Maybe we can relieve them of their young PG Mike Conley Jr. somehow since Brown doesn't like young guys.

completely agree. although, Iavaroni DID have a decent cast to work with:

Gasol, Gay, Miller, Stoudamire, Conley, Darko.

he should've made that team work better than it did.

but after the Grizz management gave Gasol away i don't think they have the right to blame Iavaroni for a lack of success.

i can't wait to see Brown go there and ruin them like he did NY. "yeah, sure, i can make a Francis/Marbury backcourt work!"

Just the usual rumor and speculation as the season draws to a close, there's nothing to talk about, and journous struggle to even fill their daily articles quota.

Hiring LarryB for a young club like Memphis would send the whole franchise to hell. But hey, they traded Gasol for a blown tire, after all..

I guess he couldn't play much worse.

I am sure Larry Brown will really see the potential in Darko and would be thrilled to start working with him again :D

Larry Brown used to be a teacher of "raw" players. Now it seems that he is known for being the opposite. Ironic how a two time college coach of the year now seems unwilling to work with young players.....
"And with Dwight, he's Moses Malone at 22, Shaq at 22 and Tim Duncan.

i mean Darko and Kwame are equal to me, Darko is the better shot blocker and natural rebounder but Kwame is just as capable as Darko to get the same numbers if not better and Kwame plays very good man up in the the post...

i still don't think Kwame is beyond saving. he won't ever live up to his draft hype, but he could very easily be a serviceable big.

i wouldn't mind seeing a Dwight/Kwame front court at times so long as Kwame comes cheap. like LLE cheap.
