Chicago Tribune -
The deadline trade with Cleveland has given the Chicago Bulls a crowded backcourt that makes changes this offseason virtually inevitable, the Chicago Tribune is reporting.
Regardless of the rotation that interim coach Jim Boylan comes up with someone is going to be unhappy. There simply is not enough minutes for all the players the Bulls have.
With Larry Hughes on big money for the next two seasons and Ben Gordon in restricted free agent status, one player who may be moved to help free space is Kirk Hinrich, K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune is reporting
any chance or pipe dream?
he can defend big sgs and shoot 3s...and is a POINT GUARD!!

I was beamed aboard the starship Enterprise
What I felt what I saw was a total surprise
I looked around and wondered can this be
Or is this the start of my insanity
Oh but it's true
As we went warp factor 2
And I met all of the crew
Where's Captain Kirk?

No thanks. He gets paid too much and is not playing well for whatever reason. He is enticing but in the end we would have to give up to much to match his salary. Pass.

it would obviously be a plus, either one of him or meer coming off the bench would make a huge impact and i think that he is dying for a change of scenery or just a change...
but $47.5 million...whoa...it just not feasible...

HE WOULD BE A GOOD ADD

I think it would be a HUGE upgrade. If the magic wanted him im sure they could come up with something. It would nice to add him plus lock turk up for another five years or so and we are set. Title contenders for years to come. HE WOULD SOLVE SO MANY PROBLEMS. I think mabe if we add kurt thomas to the mix with battie comming back soon we will be a very deep team.

in Kirk's falloff year (this one)
PPG 12.2
RPG 3.4
APG 6.2
SPG 1.1
BPG 0.2
FG% 0.416
FT% 0.856
3P% 0.346
MPG 32.8
Jameer's this season
PPG 10.9
RPG 3.5
APG 5.7
SPG 0.9
BPG 0.1
FG% 0.459
FT% 0.836
3P% 0.391
MPG 28.5
Kirk is 6'3, like for real...and he plays pretty darn good defense...
Chauncey Billups vs. Jameer averages 23.4PTS/9.6AST/5.9RBG
Chauncey Billups vs. Kirk Hinrich 17.8PTS/6.6AST/5.8RBG
must be a coincidence...

He would be a perfect fit with this roster.
Bring Jameer off the bench as a scoring punch at either PG or SG (with Hinrich in to guard SG's).
We can't offer anything anyways, no expirings, no young talent, and a high pick next year. They have plenty of young talent anyways, he will probably be packaged for something like a SNT Elton Brand.

yea kirk is def an upgrade over jameer no doubt...the thing i like about his contract is that it appears to drop every year..$11mill this year and $8mill in 2011-12...not sure what we have to give up though

he's an "upgrade" to an extend, primarily size and defense...it would probably be lateral everywhere else unless he start's averaging 16/17 pts a game again and shooting the ball better...
but yea, it will not happen...

guess i should have posted this here instead of making a new thread....
Why does everyone think that we need a PG so bad? Look at some of the PGs that were part of championship teams. Fisher, BJ Armstrong, Ron Harper(and even Rondo).. None of those guys were better than mediocre. IMO we need to decide if were going to keep turk at sf and shard at pf, if so then we need a SG who can defend and shoot..
Hinrich would be a good player to add.... but for more like $6M/year..
I especially dont want Arenas... whens the last time a team won a championship with a shoot first PG?

This year is a fluke for Hinrich . That whole team sucked this year . He'll get back into form ,so yeah I would love to have him as our starting PG . We could then bring Meer off the bench which is where he really excells

I like Hinrich and think he would fit well but the salary is just too much.

I have always been a big Hinrich fan, and I would love to see him here.
I don't know that we'd make for a good trading partner though. They'd likely want a PG in return, and I don't think they'd be up for adding an undersized PG to go along with their undersized SG.
A Nelson/Gordon backcourt would have been stellar in NCAA though.
For those worrying about his salary, I don't think it'd be much of an issue. He's an obvious upgrade in my opinion (on both sides of the ball), and, like Big Ben, his contract will be decreasing each year as the salary cap goes up each year.
So while Jameer's is going up each season, Kirk's is going down. Kirk's is larger, but as you move to the end of their contracts, they're making a similar per year rate. Regardless, Kirk would be worth it, in my opinion.

Yeah I doubt we have the pieces to acquire him. I'm a big fan of Hinrich too and would love to have him. But I don't see us having the pieces. But I want to keep Jameer here even with Kirk.

the only way we can do this trade is if we do a sign and trade involving garrity/dooling/arroyo, any of theose, but why would they take on arroyo or dooling when they're clearing up a logjam at the 2...ben gordon on the other hand...he'd be a starter here and would be the 2 that we're missing

If we sent them Hedo and Jameer we could probably get something like Gooden or Thomas (doubt it) and Kirk in return which I would be more than happy with.

Well, maybe, but for whatever reason, he is getting a lot of the blame for what is wrong with the Bulls in the Chicago newspapers. They say he cannot score this season and his defense has fallen off and that he isn't quick enough to keep up on either side of the ball anymore. (And he has had a lot of injuries this season.) Plus, he was the captain of the team and look what happened to it. Don't shoot me; I'm just the messenger. Read the Chicago papers. They expect him to be traded because of the above factors.

So you want Hinrich even though he has been out for half of the season to some mystery illness. People in Chi town said he was just too tired to play in back to backs and that is why he keeps on asking to sit out games.
So we need him why don't want another Grant Hill, and lucky for us the Magic can't afford him. And if suddenly he was willing to take a big paycut I would have to ask why???

He is an interesting player. Everything about him would lead you to believe he would be the perfect PG for a team like the Magic. He has the size, he can defend, can move the ball around, and score if needed - also can play up tempo.
All that said, and I am not basing this on only this season, there is something missing there. I don't get the feeling he is the right guy. I think it might be because when you get a PG that dribbles so much/dominates the ball - he better be an all-star. I would prefer someone that could defend but didn't need to dribble for 10-15 seconds per possession.
FWIW, I still like the guy and his style of play - just not here -and YES he is better than what we have
