I thought those were the same thing...

His game is very similiar to Turk's, with a little more athleticism and less three point shooting. Being italian, I'd love for the Magic to draft him, he's got more offense than defense and would fit nicely into SVG's system.

The Lebron comparison is just crazy

Fran Vazquez has made me very leery of drafting anyone from overseas. Sign an international player already in the league if he fits, but the Magic can't afford to draft another player who doesn't come to the NBA. And thanks to Fran, who can you trust?

Fran is the exception to the rule, we've seen quite a few euros come to the US straight away even after the Vazquez fiasco. That whole thing looks more and more like the blame should be split 50-50 between front office and player. Otherwise, many other teams would have found the same problems Otis and Dave faced in '05.

Plus, Gallinari has put a NBA clause into his contract that allows him to dump his euro squad for any american club, like Navarro did last season, giving up money to play for the Griz (bet he regrets it now lol).

I wish Auggie worst case was Aaron Williams. He isnt even anywhere close to that right now. We could use an Aaron type.

in Augustine's defense, wasn't he reported to be one of the top athletes in the draft that year? the guy was pretty much an animal in college...he, like Gortat just needs burn...never going to be a big timer, but just like a cook guy, maybe boards, blocks and dunks instead of 3 pointers...

I've never heard that. If he does, from the little that he has played he hasent shown that.

yea, i cannot remember where that listing of top athletes in each draft is, maybe it's draftexpress, but I believe the order was Noel and then Augustine...if someone could find that, it would be nice...

I remember he was being touted as one of the best pick and roll big men in college and in the draft and was being labeled a much better athlete than advertised...i think his knocks were his strength and his shot blocking prowess or something similar...

Nah, he had just one game with 30ppg and Summer League means nothing. He's a Redick clone with more athleticism and less outside touch. But yeah, as a SG backup it wouldn't hurt if and when the Magic find a legit starter for that spot.

well, not as close as i thought...but yea 16 is better than 80, he did surprisingly better than many of the better players...16 reps isn't that bad compared to others...he tested better than LaMarcus did...

People underestimate James' and Gortat's athleticism.

Fran is not the exception to the rule other teams have had the same problem after drafting foreign players and have had the problem of getting those players because of the buyout clause in their contracts. Some of these players were able to get the money for their buyouts, but no Fran is not the exception to the rule instead he is the norm.
I can see why the Magic may be alittle leary about drafting another foreign player. Plus most of the foreign players were not ready to play in the US right away that is why some are still overseas others learning here in the US just ask Portand about that.
It's nice that Gallinari has the NBA clause, but is he really prime time ready.

Fran was a different case in the sense that he gave the Magic the impression that he was ready to come over once drafted, he had no previous contracts with other teams at that time...it wasnt until the week after media day here in Orlando that he signed a contract with another team...
