Otis to decide on Tony today

I don't have a link but I heard Scott Anez say on am 580 wdbo this morning that Otis intends to make a decision on Tony today. Then they played an exert from Otis saying "mumble, mumble, Tony, mumble mumble, I have to make a decision on Tony mumble mumble."
I hope we get Tony back, I mean what are they going to do, leave Auggie off the playoff roster. They never play Auggie and I don't think it can hurt to put Tony on there even if you don't really use him.

Who knows, maybe he is readier that we know. He has been working ahead of schedule so maybe he is ready. I would love to have him just for the rebounding if nothing else. But not at the risk of not having him next season.

All I am afraid of is Gilbert Arenas. Not that we must face him, but his injury scenario. He rushed back this year and ended up reinjuring it and it almost cost him this whole season. Even though I don't think Tony is our PF savior, he definitely helps, but he helps because he's a gritty scrapper. Wouldn't it seem that he is more susceptible to injury because of the style of play that makes him worth his salt?

That's my point. I wouldn't think Otis would take that chance if he didnt think Tony is not ready. Also dont forget that Tony has to pass his test in practice before he enters the game.

It's stupid to bring Batman back this season, we rushed Kelvin Cato from his shoulder injury and he was ineffective the remaining months of the season (and ended up never being the same).
Tony would be coming back 2 months before scheduled, no f*cking way should we do this.
Give Gortat a shot at least before you do something rash.

Well, I suppose that clinches it, we have to draft Robin Lopez. Then trade for Chris Anderson (Birdman). Get Dwyane "Flash" Wade. And finally, bring Fran Vazquez over (Wonder Woman).

Got to give both Gortat and Auggie a good look. Are we playing the D league teams again this season (Mia & Mil)?

The first round of the playoffs isn't going to be as vital as the second round. I think we can still get past any team that we might face early on without Battie and Cook. A high dose of Lewis there with Auggie, Pat, Gortat, and even Hedo playing time there should be enough.

Why aren't there more guards with super-hero nicknames?
There's Superman (I and II, Shaq and Howard)
Batman
Birdman
Captain Caveman (Kaman)
(Ok, I admit, this post was just an excuse to reference Captain Caveman)

With Cook out, Battie will get involved with practices. Whether he plays is uncertain. But what if another big goes down? Then Tony's in.

I'd love to have Tony for the playoffs because I think he'd be a big asset -- not as big an asset as he would have been if he had played the entire season, but his scrappy play and cleverness would help.
But I just think it's too big a gamble to bring him back for the playoffs, which have a way of getting really brutal in the post. He needs that shoulder, and he is no youngster. You can't risk the rest of his career for one playoff run. You can't be short-sighted and rush him back six weeks before the standard recovery period for his injury ends. Shoulders are always a risk to get reinjured anyway. The Magic need to give him a shot at a complete recovery.
Good team guys like Tony always will say they are ready, but less than two weeks ago, Schmitz wrote that Tony said he still had some pain in the shoulder.
It's too big of a risk for Tony and for the Magic long term.

Welp, today is over. Guess Otis procrastinated?

Maybe he's just trying to keep everyone guessing?
Dallas said Dirk wasn't going to play, and then he did.

In SVG's radio show yesterday, he seemed pretty emphatic that Tony shouldn't be playing, for his welfare and the future welfare of the team. He also said it wasn't his decision, but I'm sure if the coach says he's not playing, the GM isn't going to say he is.

i really hope we're doing the right thing if we let him come back...i don't want to rush him, he could be really valuable for us next year
