Normally I often classify good offensive players as one or the other, but I'm having a hard time with shard judging by his play this season.

So what would you say?

Shard is a scorer religated to being a shooter in our offense. He was brought in to do what Hedo is doing, but Hedo beat him to it.

To score you have to shoot, so both.

More of a shooter, but obviously he scores a lot as well.

Basically, he doesn't look to make his own shot too often, but hey surprise, he CAN create his own shot, because when he does, it looks good.

However, he's more of a 3-point shooter, keeping his man on the perimeter with him.

He is a scorer, and probably one of the better ones in the game simply because he can do it any way you can imagine like in the post, penetration, spot shooting, pull up shot, fade away, dunk, and the ever pretty floater.

yea i'd say he's a scorer. He's kind of been forced more towards shooter this year with Hedo being the primary wing option and Rashard playing PF.

Lewis is a shooter.

Borderline. He can put it on the deck and create his own shot, but he is very limited. In other words he's not very creative.

Shooting is his strength, but he's at his best when he's mixing it up.

To me he is a shooter. He can do other things but nothing with consistency. His post game is his best attribute but in this offense he is pretty much a shooter.

Rashard lewis, as a powerforward, and in this offense is mainly a shooter with occasional scoring sprees. However, his best attribute is taking advantage of his size in the post. Similar to how hedo takes advantage of his smaller defenders. Moving back to the SF spot will allow him to display a greater assortment of offensive skills, thus his scoring ability.

Look folks, Lewis dominate in the West because he could post up any opponent SF. As a PF, he does not have that luxury, and this is the single biggest offensive hit his game is taking.

If the Magic moved Lewis back to the SF slot, he would again be worked in to set plays where he was isolated on the block. (... and there, Howard gobbles up all weak-side offense boards from missed shots).

One thing that has surprised me about Rashard....He gets quite a few steals, and it seems like he has been doing more of that lately. When he does get into the middle there, his long arms are good at intercepting some basketballs in the passing lanes. I know that doesn't have anything to do with whether he is a scorer or a shooter, but I just wanted to note that. For the record, I think he's a scorer but is asked to do so much of the time here by shooting.

He is used as a "shooter", but had a deadly post up game at his proper position last year.

In some ways it sucks because we are not utilizing his talents, in others, the Magic flat out need a shooter a lot of the time top be where he is....

In the end we are so much better offensively now that I don't care too much. I do think, to reach a higher level, the Magic will have to get him more touches in the post and get him closer to 22-24 ppg.

I'm pretty sure that by "scorer" you mean "slasher," in which case Rashard is, without question, a shooter. He's a good shooter, but I'm hoping that the true worth of the contract will be shown when he gets back into his old rythym of slashing and making defenses look silly.

I pretty much agree with what you guys are saying, I just didn't articulate it too well in my own post.

Rashard is basically a scorer being forced into a shooter's role this season. And still, being part of a three-man scoring nucleus, he's putting up 18 points a game. I like the little things he does to help free up Hedo to score - the little things that don't show up in the box scores. I like the professionalism he brings to the team and the fact that he has created a role for himself that still allows him to score and be a factor out there without whining about shots or trying to get his own stats or any of that other stupid stuff that some 20ppg-type scorers in the league tend to do.

Lewis in this situation is a shooter, and somewhat bringing the PF to the perimeter to free up Howard and Turk in the paint

Totally agree 100%. Lewis is a scorer, but its his shooting that we are focused on capitalizing on. Move him back to his position and his game goes back up to where it belongs.

Scorer does NOT mean "slasher."

Shard is a scorer plain and simple. Post up, mid-range, can drive to the rim and finish above it. He can create his own shot as well. Just because his best offensive "weapon" is deadly 3-point range doesnt make him a "shooter"

A shooter not a scorer. Mabye in Seatle he was a scorer i'm really not sure but in Orlando he's defined each game by whether or not he's hitting his shot. He's barely worth anything when he's not. He can post, but Howards the post guy on this team.
